I've got a Murray Darling Python and he was a bit on the angry side at first but I handled him 4 or 5 times a day and he's tame as now. I was bitten once on the second day I got him and since then he's been cool as.
i've noticed that people hiuse carpet pythons together often. are they better snakes to house together? i know that snake housing is fatal a lot of the time...
nice snakes! sorry, do you use some other heating device (from below)? Is it too hot where you live? and what about the humidity level? I'm looking for a snake to buy, considering this species, thanks for your help!
Alexander likes to stay in his hide because he knows Wayne is the alpha male and when Alex is breeding age and those bitches go on heat they will fight. Give em all a terrarium that size each. However beautiful Jungles man.
shame there's 4 in that size enclosure, would be perfect for one, nowhere near big enough for 4!! but that just seems to be the norm with most yanks that i've seen on ere, your's is defo 1 of the better 1's but it's still not big enough for them! seem to spend too much for the snakes and not enough on a big enclosure. i got 1.5m long x 1.2m high x .9 wide for one centralian python, and i still reckon i'm going to have to upsize soon! sort it out america!!!!!
awsome awsome set up! mines a year and a half now. Did you find those stics outside, because i need to find some new things to keep my carpet from knocking everything down!! o and were did you get that ccage?
i have one jungle but was thinking of geting another. do they ever fight or anything if you keep them together?? also if i bought a boy doesnt that mean he'd get my female pregnant?
Carpet pythons, will calm down the more often you handle him/her. Just be careful not to scare the python, as this can lead to fleeing, a suprising bite, and a poor feeding response. As the carpet python gets more and more used to you, it will calm down. Every python has his or her own personality, but biting will usually subside, by 1-2 years of age. Once they gain some size to them and comfortable with you, they rarely bite. Just dont dance your hand in front of your snake, you look like mice.
Carpet pythons tend to be laid back for the most part. When they are newly born however they are 100% instinct, and bites are probable. A newborn carpet pythons bite is not dangerous at all, even an adult bite will be painfull depending on how hard the individual python bites. I have found that the wound is usually painless after about 10 to 15 minutes. Just do your standard first aid. Wash your hands, disinfect and dry off.
These 4 carpets have lived in the same encosure now for about 5 months now. They dont seem to mind each other at all and have shown no agression towards one another. They are quite harmonious. Even my most agressive carpet (Bitch) is very friendly towards the others. She just has an issue with people, because either she wants to eat you, or just wants to be left alone. I have been able to tame her down over the last few months as i can now reach for her and handle her with my bare hands.
Well i havent had any problems with them trying to go for the lights. there just simply isnt anything for them to hold on to. Once in a while they may look up at it, and tap the bulb with their nose, but i have not seen any burn marks of any kind. I should also note that this species of snake sleeps during the day and is out and about at night.

nice man..are jungle carpet pythons partly arborial?
honnoand000 1 year ago
@honnoand000 Yes, they are semi-arboreal. They'll use a perch if you provide one for him.
