  • this is the evil language. :O

  • As an Italian as a foreign language speaker, my advice is : DON'T WASTE YOU MONEY ON THIS.

  • A lot of the translations aren't correct. For example, I speak Italian, and they are saying that "lei è" means "you are," when really, it means, "she is." The correct term for "you are" is actually "tu sei." I wouldn't waste my time with this program. Just my opinion, though.

  • @XxVictoriiaxX are you italian? (are you a native from italy?)

  • @dulcey4 Yes.

  • @XxVictoriiaxX k. are there any other programs you would recommend for a beginner?

  • I don't see the use of committing yourself to one program: Rosetta Stone or Primsleur. If you have the money and means, you can buy both, can you not? This isn't Gaels and the Gulls, people. It's the issue of learning Italian.

  • This is passive learning. You can just listen to it and your subconscious will pick it up because it keeps repeating stuff.

  • it would take forever to learn Italian like this!

  • hehe it sounds like ling laser. hee

  • This is really fun (: I'm buying the french one to help with my becoming fluent in french but maybe I'll pick this one up later just for fun!

  • Wow, a lot of hate on here! How ridiculous. It's ten dollars, I'm getting both this program and the 'transparent language' software to have a reading component. Rosetta Stone is fine if it works for you, but for many people it doesn't stay in your memory and you can easily just memorize the picture instead of understanding the language. Pimsleur is great because it uses spaced repetition, which is scientifically proven to work.

  • I just realized that ALL of the languages start out with this convo:

"Excuse me miss, do you speak english?"... lol

  • thats becaue ur tryin to memorize the words dumass

  • This is the least effective way to learn a language, a complete waste of time and money if you buy it. They take 30 minutes to teach you 2 sentences - what a joke!

  • @Bekirops Those're building block words, and probably the most important sentences in regard to one learning the language (besides, of course, "help, I need a doctor" or "Fire!" etc.). Simply put, you can use these words to create other sentences. Furthermore, if you travel to a foreign country, and are in need of assistance, it is better to ask "Do you speak English?" Surely, it is better to have someone with your tongue, rather than endure the misunderstandings btwn tourists and locals.

  • I have Rosetta Stone, it's simple at first but gets really difficult. I do like the fact that RS uses pictures.

  • capisco Italiano

  • Why would you upload something that isn't working or keep it broken when it's a simple matter to fix it?

  • le capiche?

  • looks like i don't spend money on this lol

  • I can not hear sh@#$t. racing Italian language.

  • @miltonpipi change it to 480p to hear it

  • can you post the Japanese one?

  • How do I change this to 480p? .__.

  • wow it really works im impressed and im only eleven i learned a lot of new phrases in the first lesson

  • Does anyone know if this is actually effective? Some feedback from users of Pimsleur would be nice.

  • @PeaceLoveandHookers I used Pimsleur Russian just a few months ago and it taught me a lot of important things. It does offer you a lot of info, however that was just a few months ago and now I've forgotten most of what I learned. A lot of it is just repetition until it is memorized and memorization is not a good way to learn a new language. I learned a lot of great things but it didn't stick.

  • @PeaceLoveandHookers I got the German series before going to Switzerland last summer, and played them in my car for a few months before I went. I got a lot of compliments on my pronunciation and accent while there. In fact, a few times I would ask "where is _____?" and I guess my pronunciation was pretty good because they would answer me by speaking quite quickly and using a lot of detail and I couldn't understand them, so I usually just ended up asking them if they speak English.

  • @PeaceLoveandHookers I would also say that after doing the speaking repetition a bunch to the point where you feel comfortable, seeing the word as it's actually spelled is a great way to anchor it in your head. You will have a "ah ha" moment as you make the two connections.

  • i wish i could find the booklet...

  • Why is the dialogue spoken so fast and not slowed down?

  • @wahinesurfergirl because that is the way they will actually say it in romance languages. they will say half a sentence or more, as if its one word

  • @marklmansfield No, I mean, it's spoken waaaay too fast - speed-wise. It should be spoken in a way that everybody will understand.

  • @wahinesurfergirl Right, but what i mean is; If you go to one of thoes Countrys that is how its going to sound [as if speaking way to fast] They want you to get use to hearing it as it will actually sound. One of the Best Phrases to learn in a language, if going abroad is "Please speak slowly"

  • @marklmansfield No, no, no. You're not getting me...I'm talking about the speed in the video. Nevermind, I already adjusted it. Thanks anyway.

  • @wahinesurfergirl After reading some of the other comments, I came to the conclusion that for some, the video IS playing at a faster rate than normal. Is that correct? Since I never had that problem. I misunderstood. [first comment could read "at the correct speed" , instead of "audio properly"].

  • @marklmansfield Yes, you finally got it! I have already adjusted it. Thanks.

  • pimsleur rocks!

  • Comment removed

  • I've been listening to these the past few days. Lesson 9 is hilarious - the American man trying to invite the Italian woman for dinner and getting repeatedly rejected. I had trouble pronouncing the words right because I was laughing too hard!

  • I'm so torn between Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur.. AHHH!!! Which should I get? :(

  • @SanguinaryStrife Having used both, I can honestly say Rosetta Stone is much better. It uses more fundamentals like writing, recall and actual "anticipation" of words and sentences. It teaches you as if you were learnign your first language. It's very effective.

  • @SanguinaryStrife

    Pimsleur is much better!

  • @SanguinaryStrife both in the liklihood you don't have a teacher and no one to speak the language with.

Btw, no one learns a language, it is only acquired. Krashen's "Language Acquisition Theory".

  • shit

  • thank you for posting this video. prior to purchasing pimsleur, i wanted a preview, and having watched your video, i am confident with buying the program. i am very excited to embrace the italian culture and learn to speak the language fluently.

  • @Gh0stFLOWER

you should wait for my language program

program does not end at lesson 90. And the vocab is not as limited.

  • @phatso1986 certainly. grazie. :)

  • @Gh0stFLOWER Pimsleur is total garbage. It took 27:41 to teach you how to meet a woman on a train ?! lol Don't waste your time with this just buy Rosetta Stone, its much much more intuitive provided that you have a brain.

  • You have to change it to 480p to hear the audio properly

  • @MaceGuitar thanks

  • @MaceGuitar Aah, there we go! Couldn't understand the dialogue at first, since it was sped up way too fast.

  • lol, sounds like chinese HAHAHAHA,

  • @SeanKimStyle Not really.,..?

  • audio = FAIL

  • What the hell is the point of this?
