  • I have tremendous respect for the man! We live in a complex system that delivers extreme deviations. Current risk management and economic analyses methods fail us in such a system because of low predictability. What should we do in such an environment? At the IMD OWP 2010, Nassim Nicholas Taleb will present simple rules (lower leverage, less reliance on deficit spending, less mathematical risk management) for a black swan robust economic system.

  • very interesting!

  • haha, sage advice from a sage mo-fo.

  • Saddam was dressed snappily when they hung him.

    ...great advice, I guess.

  • Great thinker.

  • don't mess with uh things you don't understand. that's real smart. wtf?

  • If only every politician understood it.

  • What he's saying is that complex systems behave in unpredictable ways when they're disturbed -- that concept is at the core of chaos theory. He gives an example of how when the UK Government saved Northern Rock, that it caused the near-failure of banks like Barclays and the Bank of Scotland.

  • that is the smartest thing u can do with things u do not understand.

  • We don't understand this fire thing better no ever try to start it again. Poorly worded by Taleb. Does anyone know where to find his investment performance number. The dressing up bit is somewhat appealing but not particulalry intelligent. Taleb is not smart that his whole subliminal/unconscious point.Steven Cohen thats a smart guy. Just prints money and never says shit.

  • "Does anyone know where to find his investment performance number?"

    hehehe

  • @asbte You miss the point. Burning yourself with fire will not render the planet uninhabitable.

  • can anybody list what he suggested?

cus some are not clear...from my speaker

  • search for his name and "top ten life tips"

  • This is the first youtube comment i'm ever makin'. And this video just derserves it. Nassim does in fact.

    Brilliant!

  • Wow, this was great. Taleb is the best
