Andre was just huge all around his body. He did suffer from obesity, but due to the fact that his frame was massive, he didn't appear fat like some obese people do. When he died, there was newspaper column that did a story about Andre, and they reported his weight at death was 555lbs.

Andres peak height was 7'1", but in 1980 when this interview happend he was down to 6'11" or 6'10", and in his match with hogan in 1987 he was 6'10" max, and when he died in 1993 he was 6'9" max. His height loss was due to multiple surgeries, slouching, bad posture and the tremendous weight of his body weighing down on his back.

I don't know if you have that documentary, but they never credit Andre with being 7'4" or 7'5", they mention in the documentary he reached 7'0. I think that is very accurate. The Orthopedist(bone doctor) I work with has looked at this video, and based on the inteviewers 6'5"height, says Andre is 7'0-7'1.Thetop of the head of any normal person to eye level is about 4 1/2"-5", Andre is obviously much larger than a normal person, so this distance could be around 6"or slightly more. The interviewers head is about 2" below Andre's eye level, so even if you allow for a 1" error Andre would still be 7'0. This is an accurate way of determing height differences.

If you look at a picture with Hulk Hogan and Andre, and then a picture of Hulk Hogan with Shaq (7'1"), he looks as short compared to Shaq as what he does to Andre. After measuring their heads and the hight difference on the screen and doing some calculationsn I came to the conclusion that the difference is 5.6 inches. Taking into account that the announcer measures 6'5" that would make Andre 6'10.5" which is quite a good hight. But Andre had very short legs and almost no neck compared to let's say the Great Khali. He also has much more chest and I bet he has way bigger hands. In short: Andre was a REAL giant!

andre was billed at 6'10 in europe i will send you the photo and 7 foot in japan, it wasnt until he arrived in canada in 1971 that they upgraded him to 7'4 on instructions from vince mcmahon senior

One of Andre's early trainers said that Andre was 7'2" in the mid 70's. Based on Dick Graham's height with boots, I'd say Andre is 7'1"-7'2" here.

andre, according to his handler was a legit 7'1" in his early twenties... as time progressed and andre gained weight from the giantism, his spine also began to curve, which caused him to lose stature. he had several back surgeries including several fused vertabrae, and he stood 6'10" when he died.

Dick Graham is 6'-5". If Ande was really 7'4" he would have been much taller than Graham. I believe Andre was a legit 6"-11". Maybe 7'-0" when he was younger.
