Venus is probably one of the more better volleyers still on the WTA. For the most part, volleying if practically extinct in the WTA. Almost all the current top players are completely incompetent volleyers and look awkward as hell

Venus is actually a great volleyer. It's disappointing that she didn't use it much earlier in her career.  I bet she could have beaten Serena a few more times during both of their prime had she used the volley with more frequency.

That shot was not luck. The ball was behind her and she put the racquet there, it was great hands. You're just not used to seeing Venus hit volleys like that. Incidentally, the commentators stated earlier in the match that Venus said she had been practising lots of volleying and wanted to use the volley more in her matches.

Why bother to make the comment? It''s a different game. We don't compare women athletes to men athletes do we? Perhaps some guys are a bit daft and on ocassions a bit insecure to even worry about making comparisons. I just enjoy both ATP andd WTA because they both bring different qualities.

Yes but that's not the point, its just a different game so it doesn't matter at all. I came into tennis mainly watching the men back in the early 1990s to 2000s but I started watching womens tennis more since 2005. Until then I mainly watched just the slams and end of year championships for the women.

So the point is no one talks about the womens 100 metres final with the men, so womens tennis is just that, a different game.

@indyk91 That is sooooo not true! Alot of commentators for Venus and Serena's matches ALWAYS say that they hit just as hard if not HARDER than most of the men on tour. And actually more people come to see the women play than men. Unless its like Federer vs Nadal/Djokovic in which Venus vs Serena always sell more tickets than them because of the whole "sister rivalry".
