I would love to see another classic commercial featured four men including Floyd.
I like the part when one man asked his co-horts, "Don't we think we're being to hard on Floyd?" They looked at each other and replied in unison by saying "Nah!". They drove their car with Floyd tied behind them. I think that did sometime drastic to him when after saying "New York City?!!" Hilarious.
Um, excuse me, I think there are plenty of people in New York City who "know what salsa should taste like." Just walk into any bodega. But it is still a seriously funny commercial.
I hadn't thought of this commercial for many years, and for some reason it just popped into my head a few days ago. It's funny how certain commercials from way back then stuck in my mind. I used to love that "New York City" line. And then that cow saying "animal" at the end. I feel sorta old watching it now, though. Lol
does anybody know what the parody was of this commercial where they say "NEW YORK CITY!?!?" and the cowboys pull out guns and shoot the guy? appreciate it.
@ricendice I think it was a sketch on Robot Chicken. After they kill the guy, one of the shooters tastes the NYC chili and proclaims "Actually, it's pretty good." You can find it on the adult swim website.
Im not sure if there is Pace Factory in San Antonio but i knew for a fact that Pace is also made in Napoleon, OH its owned by Campbell Soup Company where i worked and even tho i didnt work in that Department my mom works in the Department where Pace is made same Dept where Prego Sauce is made
@AmericanNinja85 I had an uncle who worked for Campbell's soup in Paris, TX. That was a main factory there. I don't know about back in the 90s when these commercials came out, but in 2006 the Pace bottles said manufactured in Paris, TX right on the bottle.
all the labels i believe are printed in Paris, TX also it probably sounds better when it says made in Texas but i know its made in Both Paris and Napoleon, OH
The Pace factory was right behind my house in San Antonio! Every Morning as you stepped out side you could smell the garlic and onion cooking! It was a sweet sweet smell! To us at least it was! Family and friends staying over could not take the smell very well! It is no longer Pace it something Valley. Dont really know the company name well. But you still smell them making salsa. Only it between 8 am to noon. No longer from 6 am to 5 pm.
Campbell's bought Pace a while ago, and closed the plant in San Antonio. Damn shame, really. You'll notice that they don't make any reference to San Antonio anymore in the modern ads.
Gotta love those "New York City" salsa commercials. The people of the southwest really know what salsa and picante sauce should be like, while salsa makers in New York City couldn't decide whether to make salsa or oven mitts! Okay, that was another commercial...
I dont know I hate pace but then again I live in New Mexico the land of chile So I am very preticular when It comes to salsa (we spell chile instead of chili IDK why but we do)
I used to despise Pace Picante sauce because it paled in comparison to the more freshly prepared salsa available at any local Tex Mex eatery. When I lived with my grandpa, I grew to appreciate it. He'd buy the ginormous container of Pace from Sam's. I remember some serious snacking going on with chips. I got past its mass-produced pre-packaged flavor pretty quickly and proceeded to chow down on a regular basis. It's like chunky spicy ketchup! Not really salsa but still good on chips!
im from new york farm country and a friend of mine is from the city makes a mean salsa. no its not from the fact hes from NY or that a few of his grandparents are mexican (Native/spanish) it just taste good all the ingredients are grown in NY
Hah hah!! I remember these commercials! Good stuff! lol... "Pick up the original. Pick up the Pace."
