@filochick08 1 July Update: Orange Power Sticky Spot + Goo Dissolver is the only Australian product that I have found works reliably with this technique. Check the Orange Power website for where to buy, including at Coles, BILO and larger IGAs. Australian Purchasers – You can purchase Orange Power online for $4.50.
@filochick08 Hi I am moving to Melb in Decemeber! As far as I am aware you can't get the product in Australia yet! But hopefully they will start distribution soon!
How come you never answer all the questions about the archival quality of this technique? This is one technique I wouldn't put my name and reputation on that's for sure.
@SassyNpinkable Honestly I don't know how archival it is, it hasn't really been used for along period of time. I came across the technique and wanted to try it...and so I did. Like many techniques I move on, so i am not using it any more...but that is not to say I won't. I would say it isn't very archival but then most of my work isn't. I use lots of materials which clash and react so who knows what will happen in100 years! We all create art for different reasons, I do it for myself!
@SassyNpinkable OK well seriously I doubt it is archival at all, but then you as an artist have to decide on whether that matters or not! I love the product although i don't use it any more or the technique. It is fun to play around and experiment with different materials and ideas regardless of how archival they are...it can lead to new discoveries and ideas.
I love the effect but I do wonder about the archival quality of certain techniques. I don't want to sell art to someone if it isn't going to last. Anyone have any thoughts on such matters?
Gary - you're awesome! Loved all the different pieces and ideas...creativity oozes out of your pores! Also thanks for addressing the copyright issues...I agree...hardly recognizable as an image from Nat Geo
Just wondering about the archival quality...does it keep eating away at the paper and people buying artworks may be disappointed when it dissolves away in the frame. How long have you been doing this?
In Australia the product to use is orange solv which you can find at commercial cleaning shops or orange power which is available in coles. To be found usually top shelf in the cleaning section.
Heard about this, but didn't know the process, so your video was wonderful. I do have a question that I haven't found the answer for, if you use it as a background and want to embellish it, do you need to spray with a fix it?
I have so many ideas after watching your videos it's a good thing I'm retired and have the time to try them.
I have found a product with the same ingredients called Orange TKO Natural Orange Cleaner. I have not tried it yet (need to find a National Geographic Mag).
Also the Citra Solve webiste has an entire arts area... showing what others have done with citra solve. Pretty cool.
Gary- I have found another product called TKO that is just like CitraSolv and you get a bit more for your money and can use less of it and get the same results. Just Google TKO and it will come up. I love your ideas- I did this a few months back and haven't done anything with the pages so thanks for prodding me along! Can't wait to see your canvas results! BTW- I did some with turps and let them sit overnight- covered do they wouldn't dry out- and they came our pretty well also- just stinkier!
I just stumbled upon a citrasolv artist page with an art gallery and different techniques including photo transfers and transferring onto different surfaces. You should totally check it out! just google citrasolv artist site
I love that giftwrap idea, it's awesome. I've got to try this Citrasolve idea, the holidays are coming and I could do some handmade gifts for friends. I can't wait to see how your canvas turns out. Two thumbs up!
Sorry for the thumbs down, it wasn't on purpose!!!! Gave it a thumbs-up just after, but the harm was already done... your vids are always great, I feel so bad!
no worries abt copyright -- CitraSolve has a whole page on how to do this specifically w N. Geographic. Also, the current N. G.'s work just as well as the old ones:-)
Good God Gary, you are so prolific and so effing amazing! I love your work...I always feel inspired after watching your vids. Thank you thank you thank you! Lot's o' love from Texas.
Can't wait to see how that canvas turns out. You sharing your methods has encouraged me to have the confidence to experiment and create. Thanks for all you do, I probably wouldn't have realized my potential without running across you.
I'm another new subscriber, and I have the same question about the finished canvas. I'd love to see the result!
By the way, great work - wonderful videos, very inspiring!

Waxed paper could be good too. I buy it in the supermarket and use it with inks but i would work with the citrasolv too.
