  • Wow the quality is so clear you can see the tire tracks towards the end.

  • these are very true cowboys who stayed in the saddle anywhere;s from 8-16 hours a day and defended the brand they rode for!!!!!!!!!!

  • MCA tried to duplicate the 90 minute format for 'WAGON TRAIN" in its 1963-'64 season, but it wasn't successful [it reverted to its original hour-long black and white format for its final season]; CBS tried to replicate the idea for "CIMARRON STRIP" in the 1967-'68 season, with little success. The only other 90 minute filmed series that lasted more than one season was MCA's "THE NAME OF THE GAME" (1968-'71).

  • "THE VIRGINIAN" aired on Wednesdays at 7:30pm(et) from 1962 through '70 (it became "THE MEN FROM SHILOH" in the 1970-'71 season, in the same time period). It achieved two goals- one, for a wider acceptance of NBC's "Living Color", as more viewers saw the show in color by the end of the '60s; and MCA/Universal, for creating a worthy successor to "WAGON TRAIN", AND making a weekly 90 minute filmed series popular at that time. Repeats are currently seen weekdays on the Encore Western cable channel.

  • the quality is amazing

  • I'm sure one of the reasons we tuned in was to see a show in color. I don't recall that there was a lot of shows that year in color. We got our first RCA color tv in 1968...I got to watch the Wild Wild West in color that night...I'll never forget that night. But if my parents were watching something else I'd have to go to the den and watch the 19" Black and White TV.

  • @whiskeyify OMG...the Wild Wild West...Love Love LOVE that show...I wish someone would show it...And F Troop...OMG...good effin' times!

(Does this mean I'm officially old, now?)

  • @patriotgirl65 I loved to watch F troop as well even though it was pretty goofy at times. I noticed the western channel has a lot of these old shows like the Virginian...but they never air the wild west...I wonder why?

  • @whiskeyify I think it has something to do with the "rights" to the show...the people who did that so called "movie" a few years ago probably bought the "rights" to it so they can sell the dvd box set for a stupid amount of money instead of just LETTING US WATCH IT ON RE RUNS....

This "new" Hollywood generation are fucking every thing up. "Tron"? Really? I mean if they are going to remake something, at least let the original be good to begin with!!!

  • @patriotgirl65 I e-mailed ch 56 here in los angeles and asked them to show wild west. they started showing it every night for awhile...maybe about a year. but now it's gone again.

  • I heard they run episodes of "The Virginian" on Encore Westerns channel.

  • @TimelordR Yes YES THEY DO...every afternoon at 3:30(that's Central time)...It's AWESOME!

It was the first and maybe only hour and a half Western on tv...I've always thought that the Virginian was the best of the best of the tv Western's, and certainly the best theme music...Percy Faith was awesome!
