This Is Classic ! First, that the character is a trial lawyer ... has pursued this as his career...and then the somewhat smug assurance...right up until he actually starts to speak.
Communications Slapstick. Brilliant.
The closest thing I've seen to this is Robert Benchley's 'The Treasurer's Report'.
Well... if you think about it, most lawyers mostly deal with paper work.
