This song is so beautiful!!! Is that George playing harmonica? George seems to be having trouble with keeping a steady tempo. The tempo is all over the place. I'm not complaining, for it's my favorite song on the album. The emotion simply flows out of that harmonica!
@BigJohnWoody soungs like 3/4--6/8 steady to me. am i off? it is bouncy , so 4/4 is out , and 7/8 would not work. it is a hard cound ,asa guitarist.i have done it on pure groove for years.my timing is not perfect,my pitch is.Shout back to me bro!
I have a story about buying this forty years ago. It was my seventeenth birthday. I bought it at a big store. that night I was almost killed in a car wreck and it erased from my memory not just the wreck but everything that happened leading up to it. so, it seemed like i was paying for this album and the next thing I knew i was waking up in a hospital bed with dried blood all over me with no idea how I got from george's new album to white sheets and pain. Just my personal story.
I just listened to this a couple of days ago--about seven times in a row. this is one of my all time favorite songs by anyone. the beatles were all very nice folks.
@Italktopopsicles Yeah, i know. I thought i was the one who said he was grumpy. he was. even in the anthology when you look at the dvd extras you can see mccartney trying not to make george angry cause it was so easy to do. he was possibly disappointed in his solo career.
@rowdymax1 I was a junior in high school when I got this double album (yeah - vinyl!). I was so amazed by his range of talent! "My Sweet Lord" is still a fave of mine. Now I must go, for I am waxing nostalgic.......
This song was a wonderful B-side. The harmonies from 1:53 to 2:03 made me think of Paul McCartney and John Lennon.

@zyxquark Well, George was the "quiet one." Maybe he was just shy about the girls standing out front?

@GPWS339: His reputation is for using bizarre time signatures and changing them multiple times within a song.

Actually, McCartney was the nicest to the girls standing out front. George tended to be a bit grumpy.

@zyxquark Hehe, yeah, but George was always grumpy. ^_^ Obviously he cared enough about them to write them a song.

@zyxquark Agreed. I just meant that George had a bit of a grumpy disposition, not that he wasn't nice.

I would of been one of those girls. Why couldn't I have been born then?!

only george thought to write a song about those girls sitting out in the cold.
