$1000US got me an AC30cc2, it'll buy me a DRRi, a Bassman, a used twin or a super reverb, or hell two used HRD's or any number of infinitely better sounding and more versatile combos for that matter. I get that it's hand wired, but jesus that is a ridiculous amount of cash for a 5w combo with an 8" speaker and very little practical application.
The price tag on this amp is high!! what ive done is upgraded a Champion 600! replaced the speaker, valves and capacitors. I also moved some stuff about and its super quiet now with a very nice sound :) afraid I can't afford a 57 Champ so this was the next best thing? or is it?? :)
@ all the people who lets $1000 get in the way of great tone. This is POINT TO POINT. Great build, warranty, and the backing that it will last longer than you if treated right, and will only sound better with time. You know how much it costs you to have one of these things made by an amp builder? The chassis alone starts @ $1200.
@ozzy4pres Your getting ripped off then, sorry. Victoria amps, Tungsten, allen, all amp makers that do this amp style for way less than a 1000 dollar chassis. I see the point your making and I agree but let's keep it real. Unless you were going for a vintage one, it does not take that much money to build one of these from a kit. It's so small, there's hardly anything to it.
how very true. although I'd never touch this amp witha ten foot pole due to a lack of features and being ill suited to what I play this amp's history speaks for itself. still think that 1000 bucks is a little much for a 5 watter though .. but for those who want a specific version of the champ then this is the way to go. but still .. 1000 bucks. 5 watter. I'm scratching my head .. heh.
@Aguitarnamedzero agreed. if i were to go a fender id probably go with a deluxe reverb, its easily the best in terms of sound and features for the price.
Wow that 57" Charmp RI sounds great with that Road Worn 50s Strat. I would go for that amp, but that $1000 asking price is keeping me from getting it. I would pay $500 for it without hesitation. So for now, my Vox AC4TV will have to do. The AC4TV is actually a great amp.
I think it was a variation of "Layla" by Eric Clapton. It's in the same style as that song but the guitarist changed things up a lot. Take a listen and you will hear the similarities.

@ozzy4pres yeah i really want one, they bring out the differences and tones of your guitars unlike anything ive ever heard

A 5-watt Swart Space Tone cost about 400 bucks less for an arguably better amplifier.

not worth the money imo. seems like another attempt to make money off a famous name.

just a rip off Layla, as this type of amp was used to record Clapton Layla Album, or to be correct Derek And The Dominos

I really dont think this sounds that good =( really small sounding. Sounds like most of that overdrive is the speaker distorting.

That's why it's called Domino effect I think, as in Derek and the Dominoes.
TheHomingByrd 2 years ago 16
Fender did a nice job on this one, Shane gets the perfect Derek & The Dominos sound in this vid.
