@icefishguy It's not the engine dumbass, there's barely a difference between the 4.8 and 5.3 but 20 more hp and 30 more ft-lbs. It's the 4 speed, wack ass gearing and the tuning these new trucks have. A good custom tune and a 3.73 rear end with a good CAI should really wake this truck up.
I have an 05 single cab 4.8 and I was thinking on getting one of those performance turners by superchips....when you (or anyone who reads this) bought your turner, did it honestly make a difference that's worth $400?! If yes, what tuner do you have?
Are u sure u have 3.73 gears? How can u shift to 3rd at 90mph with out a cam? Wat size tires u have???? I have 30" tires most i can do eith superchips in 2cnd is 83mph..
Only do injectors if your power level warrants it. You can't just slap a bunch of parts together and hope it will be the best it could. Do some research and get it done right.
hey man truck really runs good. witchsuperchips programmer did you use? im plallig to get 1 for my silverado still debating witch would work best on my 4.8
@guitarman2116 thats because your gearing is more than likely lower. this truck has 3.23 gears, yours prolly has 3.73s or 4.10s. thats prolly why its faster
@itsoundzgood I would have to agree with you them gears are way to fucking long especially for a truck. 3.73s should deliver lots better performance and still give you better gas mileage than 4.10s. Good luck man seems like a pretty good project!

You need to upgrade your gears in your rear end or get some smaller diameter tires really bad, bro. Your gears are way too long. Try changing the shift points too because it looks like they are still at stock.
@itsoundzgood, you will definitely feel the difference if you put either of those gears in. You might want to get a LSD too if you don't already have one. You need something though because I clocked your 0-100 time on a stopwatch and it was like 28-29 sec. My 4.7 does it in about 20 sec. with just an intake and exhaust.
ive got a 4.8 2008 single cab. So far ive put a K&N cold air intake, Gibson headers, and magnaflow muffler with a Nelson Performance tune on 93 octane. Right now im leaving 5.3's and stock 6.0's in the dust. Im going to drop the 4.8 in favor of a 6.2 but for right now it works just fine.
my advice is get a better tune. Nelson performance is putting out an amazing tune. I went to San Antonio personally and got a custom tune but from what ive heard the mail order tunes are just as good.
my 99 4.8 is faster then this and its stock lol
