Alot of people say, in comparison with Heath Ledgers performance, that Jack's was too campy. But the Joker is campy to a degree, hes a clown who also happens to be a psycho. He gives himself permission to take his jokes to the next level. And I think thats almost completely lost in TDK. As The Joker says, he 'makes art until someone dies'
@TheDrYes I agree in someways, but I think it was kind of cool that he somehow knew that he would so he installed a laughing machine in his pocket so he kept on laughing after death.
Also I heard that there were written in the script to Batman returns that the Joker disappeared and we were suppose to see purble glows in a sewers drain or something.
I remember after the first time watching the movie (I was about 5), I realised that my uncle had, basically, the same sort of laugh as Joker. From that point on, he scared the bejesus out of me
Heath Ledger`s Joker didn`t have any kind of character development - And his perfomance wasn`t that good at all!
If Ledger got an Oscar for this role (aka media pressure) - Where is Michael Keaton`s Oscar for Beetlejuice?!
Batman was good. Batman Returns was a masterpiece. Batman Forever and Batman & Robin almost killed the movie franchise. Batman Begins was an interesting new approach and The dark knight was simply overrated!
@SuperJuliusC u obviously know nothing about anything your sitting here complaining about like da faggot u are u were obviously born in the late 70a early 80s to say some\thing as dumb as u just did let go budddy let go
@SuperJuliusC I see your point. Although I think Heath's Joker was great (I prefer Jack though), I think it's overrated like TDK. The only real reason he even got an Oscar is because he died (sad). If he was alive and he won, it would mean something at least. But then again, I don't he would have if he was alive.
I like your run down of the Batman films. Although I think Batman 89 was the best. Keaton & Nicolson will always be Batman & Joker.
@IncredibleFulk1 Well ... TDK used an established character in the franchise to get attention - If the "guy" in the movie wouldn`t have been the joker but just another guy no one would have really cared about the movie!
And this is the point where Nolan`s Batman movies lost my attention!
As I stated before: In Batman Begins he didn`t really care about "favorite villains" - He just wanted to make a good movie! For TDK he sadly chose the easy way!
@aerexenn Dude he died at 28 years old. If he's even capable of thought right now, he'll have more important things on his mind than an acting performance.

Wow, it is so rare to see a video interview with Jack Nicholson.
He pretty much does NO televised or recorded interviews and limits himself to print and magazines.
Thanks for posting this just for the Jack interview.

I love it when actors read the comics and know the characters then they get the character perfectly
