It seems that what our RBR community has done to keep the game alive in open source for years, won't ever be accessible to big companies with millions to spend in research and design. Especially, the great physics engine of the venerable RBR, now in its 2010 incarnation. My copy of the game turned up today, been playing it for a few hours with my gameracer/G27 playseat combo and I'm actually pleasantly surprised. The gfx are indeed terrible no one is going to argue that, but the driving model is actually very decent. The cars feel weighty and there is a real sense of inertia going into corners, the force feedback(all assits turned off) with the G27 is great, it may be a way of RBR but it's leagues ahead of Dirt in terms of realistic driving physics.
wow this game is really bad, love the part at the end of the stage when the driver waves to the crowd. its awful, but funny. V rally for the ps2 was much better than this. they really should go back to the drawing board with this game.

It was a new attempt at a rally sim that didn't go as planned. It can't be " the biggest fail of 2010" as some dipshit said below. You can only have the "biggest fail" when your title is long awaited and hyped up, then when it fails and it's reception is terrible, you can call it a "fail". I went to my local game store, this game wasnt there. i asked whats going on. its released today the 8h, and they said we havent recieved anything regarding this game. WTF? I even went to HMV and gamestation. no where seams to sell it. im wondering if the company have postponed the release to make it better lol
i don´t get it why this game is "SOOOO BAD and TERRIBLE"..? i played the demo on ps3, and at first i thought that the game wasn´t actually very good but after few times driving the two stages that was on the demo my opinion changed. I adjusted the settings on the car so that it won´t spin every time when i take a corner and so on, it helped a lot. Sure the craphics isn´t very 2010 and bla bla, i´m buying this game for sure tomorrow, when it´s released in Finland. :) I hope i´m not the only one.
This game is out on friday for Europe. Still theres no reviews on IGN, No one seems to care for the game, I love WRC but not so sure about the game. The graphics seemed like colin mcrea rally for the pc in 2000. Im so shocked how badly they screwed this game up. They have clearly used the same game engine for PS2 and just updated the cars and rally drivers. Fuck sake, hope this game is fixed. Ok i downloaded the demo of this for ps3, just like to say its appalling, worst graphics of this generation by far ( looked like ps2), worst co-driver ever calls out the corners far too late then taunts you for crashing or driving cautiously. On the upside the actual car physics and way it drives on hardest simulation setting is superb but its too little too late i'm afraid 2/10.
Perhaps would sell more if you didn't release a demo xD
very skeptical about this game, the graphics aren't great but more importantly the cars have that go cart look. i would much rather spend money on a set of new stages for RBR than this! hear that developers! i really doubt anyone will have the balls to make a game like RBR again...

The finished game will look nice on the PC at 2600p with X4 AA and max settings.

Dirt 3 will be more balanced. Even though it's going to have both traditional rally and american stuff, it will still top this game imo in point to point racing events, because there will be more than enough tracks, cars etc. for both groups of rally fans. Take into account also the dinamic weather, snowy events, graphics, damage system, audio quality (Dirt 2 was already ahead of its time in these last three criteria)

My hope is that RBR has been in some inspiration of the handling and physics of the game, because It is the true Rally Simulator which DT2-DT3 isn't, Not saying that they are bad, but it is still More Arcade then a Simulator..

i been playing Dirt 1 and 2 for long time and still Craving for more Rally action in RSRBR-rally sim richard burn rally which is a 2005 game with a 2010 mod and its looks even better than this .. for some points lol

The best part on the PC version is that there is no exit button to shut the game. You have to use Alt + F4 to shut it down, like what the fuck?

It was a new attempt at a rally sim that didn't go as planned. It can't be " the biggest fail of 2010" as some dipshit said below. You can only have the "biggest fail" when your title is long awaited and hyped up, then when it fails and it's reception is terrible, you can call it a "fail". It's like the new twilight movie, what did you expect?

I went to my local game store, this game wasnt there. i asked whats going on. its released today the 8h, and they said we havent recieved anything regarding this game. WTF? I even went to HMV and gamestation. no where seams to sell it. im wondering if the company have postponed the release to make it better lol

i don´t get it why this game is "SOOOO BAD and TERRIBLE"..? i played the demo on ps3, and at first i thought that the game wasn´t actually very good but after few times driving the two stages that was on the demo my opinion changed. I adjusted the settings on the car so that it won´t spin every time when i take a corner and so on, it helped a lot. Sure the craphics isn´t very 2010 and bla bla, i´m buying this game for sure tomorrow, when it´s released in Finland. :) I hope i´m not the only one.

This game is out on friday for Europe. Still theres no reviews on IGN, No one seems to care for the game, I love WRC but not so sure about the game. The graphics seemed like colin mcrea rally for the pc in 2000. Im so shocked how badly they screwed this game up. They have clearly used the same game engine for PS2 and just updated the cars and rally drivers. Fuck sake, hope this game is fixed. Im going to do a review of it on friday when i get it. feel free to find me and watch it. :D

Ok i downloaded the demo of this for ps3, just like to say its appalling, worst graphics of this generation by far ( looked like ps2), worst co-driver ever calls out the corners far too late then taunts you for crashing or driving cautiously. On the upside the actual car physics and way it drives on hardest simulation setting is superb but its too little too late i'm afraid 2/10.
Perhaps would sell more if you didn't release a demo xD

very skeptical about this game, the graphics aren't great but more importantly the cars have that go cart look. i would much rather spend money on a set of new stages for RBR than this! hear that developers! i really doubt anyone will have the balls to make a game like RBR again...

Thank god a real rally sim, I was getting sick of ken blocks voice on dirt 2, yea the graphics are good on dirt 2 but it's too American now Mcrae is dead.
The finished game will look nice on the PC at 2600p with X4 AA and max settings.

If I hadn't played RBR I would assume this game was realistic and think it was the a badass and played on none the wiser
the biggest crime it commits nonetheless is that after all these years it isn't better than RBR - i mean by now shouldn't we have something else that has that no compromise style of driving with real rally skills and consequences - anyone who thinks they like rally but doesn't like rbr is a bitch in my opinion and just wants a game to make them feel good about themselves

Colin Mcrae Rally was alright. Dirt was way better though. GT5 will have WRC license, so maybe you would like to check that.

Who cares about graphics. True racers will play any racing game. We've been longing a proper rally game for years now, and if this is all we get so be it. I'd take a game that looks like Colin Mcrae 2.0 but have a great driving engine any day. Mcrae games lost its edge with racing buggies and trucks and all that shit. Fuck that shit. Give me a road, a car and some god damn pace notes and I'm happy

what people dont realise is, the game is coming out in october and this trailer looks so shit graphics wise becase it is just giving you a little taster of what the game wiil be like. If you look at the latest previews youl change your first imprestions massivly.

@shortshins after Dirt 3 I think they will go back to the roots.
Dirt 3 will be more balanced. Even though it's going to have both traditional rally and american stuff, it will still top this game imo in point to point racing events, because there will be more than enough tracks, cars etc. for both groups of rally fans. Take into account also the dinamic weather, snowy events, graphics, damage system, audio quality (Dirt 2 was already ahead of its time in these last three criteria)

The graphics are terrible, and worst of all, the thing I was MOST HOPING FOR, the thing you'd most EXPECT from the OFFICIAL WRC GAME, the PHYSICS. The physics and handling look OH-JESUS-FUCK-HORRIBLE, and it's out next month. Seriously, what the fuck. This better be fixed up FAST.

There is so many games today, that has Great astonishing graphics, But they are boring like H...
RBR hasn't got the graphics, But hell it is got the Handling and physics for a Real Rally SImulator, and it still being played by lots of people, so if WRC delivers the right feel to it, it's a Winner, besides the tempered Graphics.
I rather have a great Game, then great graphics and a shitty Game.
I look forward to GT5, but I don't think that the rally part will be better then this,besides graphics

I wont say It's better or worse, then the DIRT2/DIRT3 because for me, it isn't the same approach to Rallying as those 2 ( I'm a big fan though)
My hope is that RBR has been in some inspiration of the handling and physics of the game, because It is the true Rally Simulator which DT2-DT3 isn't, Not saying that they are bad, but it is still More Arcade then a Simulator..
WRC2010 Looks ok :O), and by watching the driving, it is giving hope for a great Feel, but yet we have to wait to release .. :)
