This album: Led Zep II, is in my opinion, the best example of bass guitar work of it's generation.

John Paul Jones plays it as a lead instrument. The "atmosphere" of the entire album is derived from the bass playing. The Sound Engineer did a great job, too. Normally, the bass is relegated to the background, and too often, lost among the other instruments. This album was inspired.

I'm glad you found JPJ's work inspiring. It gives me goose pimples!

What I don't get about Led Zeppelin is why they didn't put the song Houses of the Holy on the album Houses of the Holy. You know what I mean?

my mom still has her zeppelin 2 and 4 vinyls. houses of the holy she bought and didnt like, but i havent found a zeppelin album that didnt make me laugh and happy and inspire me. i think after 4 they were sort of forgotten but everything up to coda is great.

I dont know,... All Led Zeppelin is awesome, but I really like the "Houses of the Holy" album. If you buy the greatest hits, the entire album is on it! =)

@thewrightlilbro its actually a picture of a group of pilots from a war i think (WWI? or II? forgot what war if any) and they imposed the faces of the 4 members of led zeppelin on 4 of the people

this was definitely one of my favorite albums, along with the 1st , and all their other ones.  Their first album defined their raw energy and genius. May they always ramble on.
