that's like a $300 mask isnt it? From a company that makes all kinds of cool leather masks and hats and other parts. I forgot the name but a costume store had a bunch of their stuff last halloween and I really wanted some of it.

@DontPutSpiceonRice - google "lumin disk" and you'll find a pile of suppliers. This one uses a 12 volt transformer, so I swapped in a 12v lead-acid battery to make it portable.
@DrSparrowShrike - the transformer that powers this thing supplies 12 volts, so I replaced it with a 12v rechargeable lead-acid battery that I carry in a satchel.
i admit its kool but really.. think about it. steampunk is supposed to be practical. and STEAM. not a plasma generator. i like the mask too, but theres a tube.. and then theres holes. ... ????? see what im getting at. im not trying to start a fight - just seeing as steampunk is drifting away from what it really is
@Lehhd2Destruktion : 'what it really is' is open to some interpretation, I think you'd agree. I haven't gone so far off the beaten path as some... remember that it is science fiction-based, after all.
@leatherprops Steampunk was what people from the 1800s thought things now would be like. Plasma may be stretching it slightly in my perpective but it could have been imagined at the time that poeple now could harness the power of lightnig for whatever that thing is supposed to do...
@joeb930 perhaps the plasma is used to vaporise water instantly to create high pressured steam quickly without the need for bulky high pressure tanks. (you could also mix sulfuric acid and water, but be careful)
@joeb930 I think you'll find that Steampunk is more what *we* think the good folk of the Victorian era might think of the future, not what they actually thought. And plasma devices are not a stretch given what sort of things Tesla was up to in the late 19th century.
@leatherprops considering jules vern wrote about nuclear reactors and laser/ray guns, i don't think plasma would be too far off the norm for their science thinking
cool

@Lehhd2Destruktion kinda narrow view. I figure it's just an outlet for creativity.

Nice how did you do the plasma generator?

Thanks. It was a Lumin desktop plasma display that I disassembled and rewired to work from a battery pack.
