  • I've had my Zune HD for a year to the day, and it barely has any stratches if any. Even after sliding LCD side down, on the floor of my bus. I love it.

  • My Zune HD 64 is all scratched up from just wrapping the headphones arount it and putting it in my pocket,,...

This thing got all scratched up very easily..

So , I dont know what you people are talking about .....?

  • ZUUUNEEEEE FUCKK YEEEAAAAAAA

  • well, try doing that to an ipod touch

  • @bunnychanlives It'll crack! LULZ!

  • this is so gay can you apply some force i dont think its gunna survive in your pocket with keys or razorblades,, dont make a video if your scared of actualy causing damage

  • My motherboard crapped out one month after warranty. They aren't as tough as you would think.

  • I dropped mine out of my pocket riding my bike really hard at about 20mph on rough road. It fell and tumbled along the road and i picked it up turned it right back on and it worked fine. Now I do have some dents in the corners and one small tiny thin scratch on the screen and a slightly deeper one on the back but thats it. The things a brute. Later I accidentally dropped it on the screen from about 4 and a half feet too.

  • gahhh stop it, ur hurting my soul!!

  • doesn't look like you're applying much force in any of those tests... I mean sure if it was plastic it would scratch, but do those tests to any 'glass' surface and you won't get any results...

  • All these scratch tests suck.

Why don't you hammer that shit.

  • @mystuff3040 Why don't you hammer your Apple shit?

  • @icyshadow0 I don't have any Apple shit, neither do I want it.

  • i was going to get the Cowon j3 but i heard you can't replace the battery

  • Using all these tools to test the durability of the screen and not being able to scratch it would make me mad, and I would probably just smash it against a wall to test it.

  • @FrettingCajarot

i threw my zune at my sisters face and it didnt break, i threw it at my wall and it didnt break.

  • is this just a regular non-modded zune?

  • @TheEmotifNinja non modded

  • @TheEmotifNinja its a regular one. It survived because of gorilla glass

  • lol and then so random and ofcourse the kitchen knife, i laughed :)

  • great mp3 player like it over the ipods!

  • if this was an ipod touch it would totaly scratch!!! ZUNE HD RULEZ!!!! = )

  • @joshsco0t4 ...despite using the same glass in the screen?

  • so i can cut coke on my zune? damn. lol

  • @jeff119990

Damn I didn't even think of that 1.....

  • i could tell you are trying to not break it with the kitchen knive. try dropping the kitchen knive on it.

  • @dudeproductions100 Well duh, dipshit. When would you ever be in a situation where you'd need protection from a fucking dropped kitchen knife? The idea is how it resists the worst case scenario scratches such as dropping it on some rough rocks. No PMP is going to be a knife shield.

  • @CaptainSief i am just pissed because the bulletproof shield on my iphone doesn't work. I was just saying that he is not applying enough force to do damage.

  • perfect! now I can listen to my tunes worry free when I'm on my way to murder someone! :)

  • best test i ever seen but please try to stab it.

  • DUDE! OMFG :O this is painfull to watch xD

    i want one :(

  • too bad the paint on it isnt that strong

  • Its strong against scratching but really nothing else... I had the misfortune today of dropping my zune hd (no more than 2 ft from the ground mind you) and cracking it dreadfully. I was going to buy a warranty immediately thinking I still had time (I got it last month) and found out the 30 day limit was 2 days ago. I feel like I should post this on Fml.com @_@ What to do, what to do.

  • good to know microsoft did a great job on the screen - that was my BIGGEST concern lol ; ) lovin the HD tho

  • whoa

  • lol in the back ground anything but ipod

  • thats one big knife!

  • my zune has a tiny scratch..Idk how tha f**k I got that thingy but god I love my zune and that thing even if its soo small I swer it gets me hella mad :/

  • When is saw that sharp razor blade i was like. "NOOOOO" T_____T Then after i was like, OOOOOHHHHH! =)))

  • Im selling my new Zune HD 16 GB. with extras message me if interested!

  • I want to see a deliberate scratch made, just to see what it takes.

  • haha listen closely at 1:10

  • a knife... MURDEROR!!! YOU KILLED A ZUNE YOU MURDEROR!!!!

  • "And here we have the pillow test. As you can see it holds well against the feathers."

  • not the zune!!!!wait nothin happen cuz zunes rule!!!lol

  • @AznBoiDT lol agreed

  • this is not a hard test. u scratch so slowly. .....

  • Is it really that strong? I don't want to try it but it's tempting. But in any case I'd like to know so I wouldnt be paranoid.

  • my screen somehow got 2 scratches don't know how or with what, don't know when

can anyone tell me what could of scratched it, like what everyday objects

  • @U2ber4lif3 Propably sand, zune is almost scratch resistant, not competely though. Sand is the worst in giving scratches.

  • @klaas18klaas yeah but i've never dropped it or left it on the ground. i remember having it in my pocket with the earbuds it comes with and 2 quarters. i think i was the magnet on the back of the earbuds or something

    but it still works fine

  • @U2ber4lif3 yeah, some little,scratches won't kill your Zune right :)

I don't think the material of the magnet of the headphones can be hard enough to scratch it, but even one little sand grain trapped between the Zune screen and the earbud might have already caused the scratch.

I'm using my Zune120 for 2 years now without a case and it also only has one little tiny almost invisible scratch.

  • @klaas18klaas thanks now i know what to keep it away from

  • my zune 120 screen cracked, it is surely not gorilla glass. it never scratched, but it broke in my pocket.

when i tap on the zune 120's screen it kinda feels hollow and "bendy". the zune hd's screen feels like hitting steel, like it makes a metallic sound and feels solid as hell.

  • Awesome, good to know I can carry it in the pocket I have my kitchen knife in all the time :D

  • i love how he says 'of course' to the kitchen knife

  • Why do people always wipe it off after attempting to scratch it? Are bits of the knives and keys and razor blades breaking off onto it, or does it self heal itself after being wiped XD

  • fuck, your a apple fanboy right? xD

i couldnt watch it a second time xD

  • after watching this i seriously want to know ho wi got scratches on mine, just ran my pocket knife on it nothin but i pull it outta my pocket the other day and its scratched wtf

  • ohhhh this is a good way to : 1.waist time 2.buy things not needed

  • my zune got scratched up.

    it fell on the ground.

  • ..wow no SHIT the glass wont scratch if you tap that shit... now if you got that kitchen knife and you PRESSED on it, then yes. cracks and scratches are different, todays glass is almost 100% scratch resistant, but only gorilla glass is almost 100% scratch and crack resistant.

  • I lol'ed when he pulled out the kitchen knife :D

  • Um stop fighting idiots they say the Zune HD is 97% scratch resistant, meaning it can have scratches. Quit fighting grow up.

  • @mgnewageD479 yes i know but you obviopusly didnt bother reading the other comments. i said it would have broken in to millions of peices

    not scratched.

  • @kse6063 yes its scratch resistant. not smash / crack resistant

  • @kse6063 If you smash an iPhone or iPod Touch, it'll spiderweb just like the ZuneHD's will.

Same goes with any scratch-resistant optical glass; its highly scratch proof and shatter RESISTANT. The iPhone doesn't have godmode; it just has a god-complex. =/

The only way to beat this problem is use a poly-carbonate type material, like what my glasses are made of. The only problem with that is that the screen would be like, 1/16 of an inch thick.

    Use your brain. EVERYTHING BREAKS.

  • @halfingr i really love how long this little fight has lasted you peopleare a bunch of fuckoing retards. first off i never fuckin said it wasnt scratch resistant. also my zune didnt get a spider web crack god damn read the other comments before starting something

  • @kse6063 Re-word every sentence you've stated AFTER that fact, as you've set your self up to sound like that.

Chill out bro. Its just the internet.

  • @mgnewageD479 not really, my zune hd has a scratch on it, so i wouldnt say its scratch resistant.

  • lol the 3 taps u did with the keys would break my zune device into millions of peices so i suppose this is fake

  • @kse6063

    4 options:

    1. you got a fake

    2. the delivery guy dropped your zune

    3. someone paid you some money

    4. you're an apple fanboy and doing this because you like it.

  • @avinotion actually not u stupid peice of shit. i bought it brand new at bestbuy. so it isnt fake there wastn a delivery guy cus i bought it my self. some one didnt pay me money cus i had toi go back to my big ugly heavy peice of shit ipod video. and im not an apple fanboy because if i were i would not have boughted a zune.

  • @kse6063

    ok... someone has issues.

did you get in touch with someone about this?

  • @avinotion uum what problems? he is just talking shit about somethign he has no reason to say anything about.

  • okay keys yeah that can happen...

umm razor blade alright i guess...

    kitchen knife....... wait what....

  • what a dumb test, you really gotta stab the zune with force!

  • 1:04

so i can make me a scale armor made of Zune HDs? cool!

    nice vid, btw

  • i dont know if this is ture because i have scratches on my zune hd 32. and thats just from being in my pocket with my keys... All these videos telling you not to get screen protectors are bs get a screen protector...

  • put some elbow grease in it! they are relentless on the ipods... not just a rub here and there and a few taps...

  • how the heck did i get a scratch on mine? lol

  • i trated my ipod touch 3rd gen 32GB for this and it came with full body shield by zagg so im protected :D

  • Im saying its fake but i dont want to test my zune

  • i dropped my zune and got a pretty decent sized crack in the screen on the upper right corner. the display is still fine and i've never gotten a scratch on my screen. my brother dropped his iPod and his display got raped.

    ZUNE > iPod

  • @mandobat777

    Zune > iPod Tough

  • @avinotion no way zune hd is a peice of shit mine cracked within 5 dayd of getting it while in a case never dopped it

  • try a diamond lol. the first thing i though when i got my Zune HD was "i better be careful not to scratch the screen. thanks for giving me some peace of mind.

  • @watermelonpizza hahahaha!

  • alright - then how did my waller (with a broken zipper that has a slightly jagged edge) manage to scratch my screen twice?

  • what faggot is going to fuck up his Zune only for showing it on Youtube?

  • I'm not impressed : / its tempered Glass of course its harder than these metals but it can be scratched by Other glass, Ceramic, special Alloys and Diamond of course

But who would try these matterials? It was made to resist common situations like being inside a poket for example...

  • @itsme4880plus Lookup gorilla glass, it's certainly more than regular tempered glass.

The test didn't seem as harsh as I thought it could've been, it can certainly take more punishment than just that.

  • @str1kerfswc No matter what type of tempered glass it is, Glass is already a very hard material, I think that the main concern about the material is if it would survive a shock like throwing it on a wall for example... Glass is already hard enough but is it also elastic? But of course nobody would throw it on a wall so its like I said, It was made to resist common circumstances...

  • @itsme4880plus mine has gotten thrown at a wall a few times....and it works just fine....just sayin..its pretty durable for me.

  • @KoolChic136 Why to throw it on a wall?? ¬¬ I think that a company has the responsibility to make a product strong enough to stand to normal circumstances. And I think that to drop it on the floor would make more sence. The argument of throwing it on the wall isn't credible.

  • @itsme4880plus i didn't do it, it was one of my friends they were pretending they were going to but then they actually did. my brother has tried to break it (Sadface) but has failed. but it works just fine no scratches what so ever.

  • this is just torture!!!!

  • does this mean that i dont have to buy a Zagg Invisible shield?

  • mine has scratches you should do drop tests next, maybe drop a kitchen knife on it see if it holds up jk

  • i have no idea how i did it but my hd has scratches on the screen

  • HOLY SHIT KICTHEN KNIFE!??

  • he went to far!!!

  • Now what pisses me off is that my zune hd cracked while sitting on my desk!

  • wtf!!?? dont hurt it!! u made me cry

  • I did it with a box cutter, a new blade on it. and yea it is Gorilla Glass alright.. So, why the hell did I buy InvisiShield.. Damn wasted so much money on it.. /facepalm

  • i like the cowon a3 out of all the cowons

  • oh finally someone tested a kitchen knife against the Zune because i was worried that my knife i carry around.. in my pocket would scratch it badly

    :P

  • bahaha I know right? I was like WTF a kitchen knife?

  • lol

  • @watermelonpizza Im glad he showed that it was impervious to razor blades as well. See, when Im carrying around razors for cutting up my coke, I dont want them to harm the screen, as you can guess, I like to fucking rock when I get geeked.

  • @maxbradshaw LOL

  • @watermelonpizza dude u cracked me up

  • @watermelonpizza Your comment's epic bro.!

  • @watermelonpizza

Yes, for sure! Now someone test a gun against the Zune's glass because I'm worried that my Colt can scratch my Zune HD in my pocket!!! AHSUAH!!!

  • Actually, anyone who says it gets scratched by loose change, or anything short of a pocket full of rocks must have a different model of Zune HD, or something. I've had mine for a little while now, and while I was worried about the screen at first, I did some research into Corning's Gorilla Glass which the Zune HD uses. You would pretty much have to TRY to scratch it. My loose change, keys, flashlight, pocket knife, etc in my pocket have yet to scratch the thing. It's tough as hell.

  • hes tickling the fucking thing, that thing wont be durable when loose change bangs agains it

  • How is it that this guy uses everything sharp, yet something like this Zune HD easily scratches in my pocket... FUCK MY LLKFIEsdfakdf Lfhoisdadfiohjklfadklfjasdf

  • it's called a screen protector invest in one .. if your that worried ...

  • mine actually got a small scratch when i dropped a large glass measuring cup on it

  • it can't get scratches on the screen but on everywhere else

  • this is bull. all glass screens will get scratched no matter what, i tested for my self with knife and left little scratches, but you can't really see'em without lights shining to them, but they stil get scratche plus, the guy is using a white light, which is not really good to see scratches. If he wolud've used yellow lights, we could've seen scratches.

  • mine got scratched, i usually put it in my jean pocket and i don't know how but it got a big scratch

  • I realize nothing happened to the screen but its just painful to watch

  • agreed lol i had goose bumps when he was using kitchen knife

  • I know!! I started like cringing and stuff...

  • @Chalexim

Dude, I almost passed out, when I saw him grab the razor blade. I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I'm glad nothing happened, otherwise that's one expensive mistake.

  • I fail to see what, if any pressure is applied here. On the cowon s9 video I can but the enthusiasm is lost here..

  • did that have a screen cover on it ??? i am paranoid about scratching mine lol

  • why would u personalyy scratch it NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • give me the knife im sure i can do it better

  • No you can't. Steel has much less hardness factor than glass. Although you could BREAK the glass with steel, that's a test of toughness, strength, and force. Glass is very hard and brittle so, yeah, you can break it. Scratch it? No. That's why glass is often cut with hardened steel composites that aren't really used in the knife industry such as tungsten, tempered carbon, and diamond composites.

  • You MIGHT be able to do it with a highly highly tempered 1055 Carbon Steel knife but I'm still guessing probably not.

  • I loled so much at this!

"Let's do a 'stress test' on the brand new Zune HD!"

"Here, we have some kays! *rubs them on the screen* What? Where are the scraches? Aw, anyway!'

"Let's try again with this really really sharp razor blade! The screen doesn't stand a chance! *rubs it on the player* Wait a second, scraches will start to appears... *nothing happens*"

"Ok, that how you want it, huh, Zune HD? Well, I won't give up! I still have my secret weapon! *takes a huge kichen knife out of nowhere*

  • That was so painful to watch...but whoa...I was half-expecting you to take out a blow torch to show it in a still intact and pristine quality.

  • nice.

  • You guys should start putting them in a bag of sand and add some pressure, to simulate a possible pocket situation *not to say people have sand in their pockets but....*

  • you should push it harder next time xD

  • man... i would piss my pants if i did that... something so expensive and awesome...

  • true lol im thinking about getting one, im still debating about this or the cowon s9 .

  • DEFINITLEY GET THA ZUNE HD!. the cowon s9 doesnt even have a browser not to mention wi-fi

  • yeahh i think im gettin one, thanks !

  • Thank you!

  • At least I know my Zune HD will be safe. How would it look after dropping it say:4 feet off the ground onto concrete?

  • The screen would probably crack or dent slightly - not as bad as normal glass because Gorilla glass is resistant against the crack traveling along the glass. This glass is very resistant to scratches but is just abit stronger in terms of shear resistance - which is what happens when you drop it.

  • nice.
