  • how do you take a program you wrote and put on a video game console like the dreamcast or xbox 360?

  • Oh jesus that game was hardcore. I remember I found it on the forums, or arce gave it to me. Jesus I wasted a lot of time playing that space shooter... it was really bad ass... I may still have it somewhere

  • @eatcomics HA HA totally just found it

  • @eatcomics Dude! I'd love to play it!=D

  • @tehepicasian Hm... I dunno where it is, this might have been before I went to linux, if I find it I'll send it your way ;)

  • You guys are geniuses

  • Man, those objects in the background had to be a bitch to code. You didn't do that yourself did you? Like is that implemented with KOS, or are those your own calculations? (Sorry if that doesn't make sense, I don't know much about the DC libs)

  • @AspireToDoItAll I did them myself. KOS gives me a mechanism through which I can submit screen coordinates of each vertex of the quads to the PVR, but the trigonometry to orient and/or transform the vertices was me. It's just a simple 3x3 matrix transformation, really.

  • @GyroVorbis Oh, gotcha! That's still really cool, especially sense you were only 16, I'm going to be 16 soon and the most complex game I've ever made was an un-finished scroller (Shump-ish thing). Also, one more question if you don't mind, were those each different classes, or were they a vector of classes, or something else? Thanks, you guys are truly an inspiration to Game Developers all over!

  • @AspireToDoItAll: They were a dynamic array or some kind of an "Entity" struct (this was C, not C++, haha). It pretty much had boolean values for whether or not to rotate, bounce, etc. along with floating point values for velocity, gravity, rotational velocity, etc.

  • @GyroVorbis Oh, haha I missed that :P Thanks!

  • Cactus eh? Would you happen to be a Pixies fan by any chance Falco?

  • I pity you retards.

  • how did you setup the /pc directory to mount to your pc ???

  • I'm assuming you're using KOS. It's part of the filesystem. /pc is your cygwin root directory.

  • Yes I'm using KOS, but I use a real Unix system (Linux) so I assume the /pc will be my real root directory and I have to you dcload as well right?

  • I can't believe you let your own brother leave the team!! All the good times you guys had!! He was probably the most fun out of all of you!! He just made shit up, especially when he was being lazy!! Come on, there is a saying that everyone knows, it's called bros before hos...

  • wait how do you develop games for a dreamcast though? Its quite cool playing a game developed on a pc to a dreamcast.

  • 1337 Beta Tester Movie XD

  • What universities do you guys plan to go to? And what major?

  • I'm almost a junior at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I'm majoring in Computer Engineering.

  • What do you plan to do with a Computer Engineering degree? Are you going to try to get into game development?

Would you say a Computer Science degree is a waste of time to get into game dev? At the university I'm planning to go to they have a computer science program with a game dev option.

just looking for a little bit of recommendation.

  • Actually Computer Science is the best one for getting into gamedev as far as i know...

  • Werd. But it's not the best one for getting money. I had always wanted to be an engineer. CPE can work as EE or CS also.

  • Yea lol, get the best of both worlds right there.

  • Its really more about what you do with your 'free time', persistence, self-motivation. It should be obvious that graduating in something does not guarantee proficiency by itself.

The industry standard is Computer Science.

As validation check job requirements on major game dev companies such as Monolith, Relic, id software.

  • what were you expecting? I'd really like to know? every one of those projects is impressive in some way.

  • very good im getting ready to go to college to make video games

  • Wow, didn't realize you guys had been coding for quite so long - myself and I think a few other people assumed that this is something you got into long after turning 12!

That assumption is not based on your skills of course, it just seems to me that indi developers missed a generation as soon as the 16-bits died out.

Back in the day of the 8 and 16-bit computers, it seemed that half the people using them could program to some degree. Indi developers are clawing back these days though huh!.

  • Marcel's Game had BADASS graphics becuase he stole them from maneesh sethi

  • They aren't stolen if they're freeware, you dipshit.

  • Wow, congrats at making yourself look ignorant--I said in the video that no graphics or sound were done by me and all were freeware.

    In short, you're a moron. =/

  • 2:58

I clearly show all the credits and have his name listed TWICE.

How the FUCK is that stealing?

  • LOL Pwnd

  • Damn, seriously Pwnd

  • I'm very impressed! I actually do remember some projects like the particle demo, null and Viva La Samba.

  • Wow your portfolio is pretty impressive. What all the other people in your team?

  • hey dude u get payed for makeing dreamcast games lol didnt dreamcast get cancelled?

  • What Falco actually got laid??? Impressive

  • Oh, you have no idea, child.

  • That was lovely, thanks for showing that.

I esp. enjoyed the space shooter. I did something similar in Visual Basic, and at the end you would fight a giant green octopus creature.. ahh good times..

  • Yes the space shooter, I do believe you can still download it from there site somewhere and if not email me and I can give it to you, I spent a lot of time playing it and it is quite enjoyable, and he made it in 7th grade!

  • O.o Did i ever make it down1oadab1e?

  • I think so, or did you give it to me??? I don't know, either way I have it... It's full of bugs but I have it...

  • i need that fucking space shooter!!

  • great stuff. i thought the viva la samba was trippy as it was :)

  • Viva La Samba!! Holy piss that looks sweet. Okay seriously, that's commercial quality. This game deserves a little nod in Elysian Shadows - even if its some trippy dream sequence or mini-game. Hey, it worked for Super Mario Bros. 2... :P

  • That's cool how the File Steamer breaks up files into separate chunks and puts them back together. A friend and I used a similar approach for an online multiplayer game.

Marcel, I have one word for That Space Game...Polished! The gameplay looks really smooth, and I love all the effects and animation. Very nice work.

  • "1337 Beta Tester Mode" 8D

you guys sure made some great games , but don't you dare quit Elysian |8<

  • that space game and viva la samba are impressive.

  • Oh man, I had an orgasm. No, I had an orgasm! So, I guess I'll do some programming. That is so fucking cool.

  • the games are really neat

  • YAT
