i dont wanna brake it to you guys but you need to put too much work ,time and money to squize the most juice out of these 4k series engines, plus parts are extremely rare to find and the fuel consumption will be huge compared to the power output, not to mention emissions,(dont forget , they were made for economy and durability), i would go slowly in a project like this throwing in a more modern rwd fuel injected rebuilt engine, maybe from those later 80's celicas and making it stock looking
@panoulis20 Yeah, i agree to an extent. Never going to make huge power but with Factory forged internals, the only thing ive ever seen, and managed to break on a 4KC is the rockers! We owned a few, and flogged the shitte out of them all.... launch it @ 5000 RPM, flat change 2nd and go for gold. Never underestimate a KE35/55
there's a noticeable power gain from a stock single downdraft carb to twin side or twin down carbs even without changing other parts.. in my case, it also improved my 7K's economy by 20% and shaved off some time from 0-100kph and increased topspeed a bit.. enlarging my exhaust pipe while keeping the stock headers also improved its acceleration and the economy even more.. the easiest way to squeeze more power is by improving the engine's in and out..
@2008dio 1,2,3, or 4 carbs e walang difference, since ung cam profile mo is still designed for low end for street use.. common mistake among amature tuners na sinasabing masmalakas sa gas ang 2 carbs.. masmaganda pa nga dahil masmatitimpla mo ng tama ang fuel and air mixture bawat cylinder.. which means more power and mas hindi hirap makina mo huminga.. tried and tested ko na to, 2 carbs is better than one in economy and power coz of the better fuel air mixture you can get into every cylinder..
Awesome man, those are 40s right? Looks pretty much maxed out :) How's the exhaust sound? Could you do us 4K owners a fan and make an exhaust clip? Just set the cam on the ground and put it through some revs. Also post the full specs on your engine. Have you checked out mine?

medcineman,
does the A$1k cover everything? i juz buy and plug it in?
how much power gain i can expect?
does the carb needs frequent tuning? or izzit hard to tune?
Thanks!
denwei 3 years ago
No, Doesn't cover everything.
Don't expect that much more power on a standard motor.
Once set mine were fine until I removed them from the car, Then they had to be retuned..
