Shame this vid starts a couple of mins into the track. Tis a work of genius. I have the whole vid anyway. Used to work in a Soho basement doing runs of Mute records (amongst others) stuff. Made myself some nice comps :)
Truly amazing, I discovered it by accident and bought the cd, after that it started being played in just about every household here, who knew? Guess the darkness in iceland in the winter needs songs that describe utter despair and darkness!
@warlockboyburns Weird I recently had a drug induced psychosis shortly after watching a doco about a guy who died from horse sex. I felt like it was integrally and distinctively linked to recent cosmic expressions of existence. Towards the end of my psychosis I listened to "Revenge Of The Black Regent" for the first time. I felt it was some cosmic expression of existnence from the future about our past.
Fuckin tune! I remember comin back from techno and listenin to this album with a big fat green one unt hidin in a cupboard ! :-) happy days? happy daze :-)
For anyone who's not aware, Steve Claydon [drummer] is now an accoplished artist; check out some of his work, you're bound to find it on the net somewhere.
Great tune. I made a video of this before the gulf war- with Tony Blair's face slowly melting, intercut with clips from the Nuremburg Rallies and various actrociries. This is the perfect song, sounds creepy, toutured and evil. ahhh happy days!
Totally brilliant band - great records and amazing live. Genuinely disturbing synth sounds - quite an achievement. Their early Vero Electronics EP is fabulous. Sorely missed - I loved the way that Barry 7 lived Add N to (X) as a high art concept thing.
yep.. its always blahblah "analog =warm" blah blah blah.. now the emulators can simulate some of the "warm" but "disturbing" is magic that only the real deal can do.. this band proved it..
The voice you can hear from 1:35 onwards is none other than Alison from Goldfrapp. I've only recently been made aware of this association, despite adoring both bands for many years now. It made me smile.
I think it's telling in a way, since a lot of stuff from Black Cherry sounds very similar. But regardless, I failed to make the connection till someone told me.
Powerful epic tune of electronic genius.
