  • Despite what I think about some of the doc's views, it is an very entertaining doc. Thanks for uploading it

  • THE GREAT ASIAN RACE !

  • thanks!!!!

  • so did sun tzu actually fight in the wars him self ??

  • @jdotc95 Sun Tzu fought under Wu state during China's Warring States Period. So yes he did participate in wars as Wu State General.

  • This shit rocks . I think playing GO is more effective than playing Chess in most cases in terms of warfare!!!!!

  • Everyone who loved this will also love "Samurai - Miyamoto Musashi Documentary"

  • I keep Sun Tzu in mind when I play chess :P

  • That was awesome !!!!!!

  • "YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTEN TO SUN TZU!"

  • that old guy really fucks me off, im sick of his american bullshit

  • "The general that hearkens to my counsel and acts upon it, will conquer: let such a one be retained in command! The general that hearkens not to my counsel nor acts upon it, will suffer defeat:--let such a one be dismissed!"

  • I tried to use this in a clan battle and my members let me down :( that's why I am using these principles to train my members

  • LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC, AMERICAN RESISTANCE MOVEMENT 1776.

  • I didnt watch a doc about Sun Tzu I watched a doc about USA military history

  • Now how to put thease techniques into use in

    starcraft

  • @plateker It would be my hope that you would be gearing yourself up for the real coming storm thats coming. Everyone should be talking about prepping at this stage.

  • @MilitiaHQ What is coming? O_o

  • @urplereen We the people vs Tyranny. If you would like to know more, watch my vids : )

  • That guy at the end keeps winking at me. Should i be uncomfortable?

  • @ComradeMing loooool indeed

  • It is not just war, more... conflict in general.

  • Excellent presentation and very very interesting. The only thing that doesn't sit well with me is the beheading of those two women. In my opinion, brutally killing women for whatever the reason is the act of a coward. That is my opinion.

  • @panagiop You need to put things into context. The execution was not an act of personal violence. In the demonstration, the women are enrolled as a military force and the leaders committed insubordination, and were properly court-martialed in these days' standards.

The victims were women because it was the king's idea, and the king could not have anticipated their death either. Also remember that the whole state is about to be conquered, by quotation "desperate times demand desperate measures".

  • Hahaha the American government should probably take note of this video, especially what is said in the last couple of minutes of this part.. "Before you go to war think this through, and then ask yourself, are the reasons for which you are fighting worth the total cost of the war"

  • This has got to be by far the best presentation I have ever seen on the History channel....and youtube.

  • of course, i'm of chinese descent too, so no surprise.

  • wow i just finished watching the documentary and I have to say wow... sun tzu is just awesome.

  • Great documentary, although my concerns are about the perception of these Phd's towards war and their optimism towards it. War is horrible and it's the worst use of human's capabilities. How this can be considered an "Art" is ridiculous. Life is invaluable. We oughta respect it.

  • No wonder american armies have been successful lately, only after reading and learning Sun Tzu.. LOL

  • @HistoryHmoobGuy sucessful? You must be dreaming

  • Comment removed

  • @HistoryHmoobGuy Out of everyone on here you have an overabundance of mistaken opinions and downright nonplus comments that have no means to an end. Your oafish racism places large stereotypes on people that completely defeat the purpose in my opinion, of a very key aspect Sun Tzu would have found foolish. You "fight" a battle that has no greater outcome whether you think you've won or not and you vastly underestimate those you seek to demoralize. You attack for sake of it and have not learned

  • To bad 99% of this cant be used in video games.

Still an awesome documentary. Enjoyed it alot.

  • @Jarco45 It can in Total War games.

  • @FrogsGames

Hell not~ Acient Chinese generals in those days were commanding and fighting in chariots, but this video depicts them as if they were Conan the barbarian.

  • @FrogsGames Na. Most of this cant be used in TW. Its better to face it head to head while having a slight upper hand (protecting castle/Ambush) then trying to run around them.

  • @Jarco45

Most RTC victories are based upon which player is better at using hotkeys and clicking the mouse button so Sun Tzu wouldn't really apply. However, many tactical RPGs, especially Fire Emblem which is based on assymetric warfare and having as little casualties as possible, Sun Tzu would have a lot of relevance.

  • I have become a much better Starcraft 2 player. LOL.

  • @CarboKill i have become a much warcraft 3 player. LOL.

  • What a briillient man :O

  • that's why Mao Zedong could defeat Chiang, because he has read this book thousands of times.

  • sun-tzu defeated armies 7 times their size. thats a true master

  • Sun Tzu should be a football coach

  • thumbs up if u watched all 10 of the vids. cause it is definitely worth watching.

  • @sniperdude5236 last year i watched up to part 4 and quiet for a while and now this year, i reached up to part 10 finally.

  • Pwning Pwn pwn

  • Read the book and seen the documentary. All in all, beyond awesomeness :)

  • I love this documentry!

  • Anyone else dig the music for this thing?

  • One thing nobody realizes in Sun Tzu's writing was his army organisation and its effect on close combat. Sun Tzu wrotes that each group was one triple and 1 pair of men. In close combat odds could easily turn upside down in man to man fight. So in his organisation (in low level) his men were about to fight in small groups against single opponents, so they would easily have local overpower.

  • Thank You so much for posting these, this documentary was an excellent depiction of military strategy. Now it is time to really play Shogun 2 total war!

  • Finished all10/10. Excellent.... explains better than the book.

  • People the Sun Tzu (Art of War) is relevant in any kind of conflict, not just the battlefield, but conflict in general. In the Office with a co-worker, at school with a bully... etc

  • People the Sun Tzu (Art of War) is relevant in any kind of conflict, not just the battlefield, but conflicts in the office or at home.

  • Lee's arrogance destroyed his men.

  • thank you for uploading this MilitiaHQ..

    was an awesome documentary

  • nice job of creating it!

  • I enjoyed this documentary more than I usually do this sort of thing. It went into just enough depth to make it possible for me to learn something without being confused or bored and used just enough special effects and commentary to make it entertaining without making it condescending. What I mean by the second point is that often these documentaries will spew irrelevant and useless information (e.g. the bridge is as long as a hundred cars)...but not so much in this documentary.

  • @WSWarthog You should also watch Musashi Miyamo documentary, both Sun Tzu and Musashi Miyamoto holds great knowledge of the art of strategy.

  • @PimpingRice

    Thanks for the heads up.

  • this was very well made. i like the graphic effects. if you liked this and want more sun tzu you should read sun tzu and the art of modern warfare by Mark R. McNeilly. it is really good.

  • then we will fight in the shades :)

  • definitely sun tzu's teachings applies to rts games "use deception" "attack what is weak"

  • @Ventorez I remember playing warcraft 3 against one of my roommates in college. He built a small, meager army, but tens of treant rock-throwing towers.

After he lost, it took a huge amount of persuasion on my part to convince him that purely defensive preparation simply gave the rest of the battlefield to me - gold mines, terrain, and the skies.

  • thumbs up if u watched this for sc2

  • You think this applies to Starcraft II? :D

  • @Lottanubs I don't know, but it definitely applies to the Total War series.

  • @Lottanubs In all RTS and RTT games. Even in FPS games like Counter Strike, BFBC, MW2...

And I tell you the Sun Tzu tactics apply well.

  • @hck112 I completely agree with Sun Tzu's tactics being applicable to FPS.

I remember many times where I have gotten higher frag counts than other players who I knew were clearly better than me in terms of combat. But victory is still possible by avoiding them and focusing on the low-hanging fruit, or only engaging them when you have a great advantage (e.g. a blackbird overhead, trick them into following you towards a claymore or an incoming killstreak.)

  • thanks for uploading that MilitaHQ, that was an interesting documentory

  • "Nation's often rush into war" <<=== GEORGE DUHHHBAYA AND THE REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED CONGRESS, PLUS ALL THAT VOTED IN FAVOUR OF THE INVASION OF IRAQ.... DUHHHHHHHHH BAYA WANTED TO SHOW DADDY THAT HE WAS A BIG BOY AND HE COULD LEAD THE NATION JUST LIKE DADDY DID...

  • thanks for posting these.
