I dont think you could bore out a 50 to 178, it would have to be a 125 to be bored out to that sized otherwise the cylinder walls would be way too wide for the engine.

the cylinder is 178cc, due to the the extended crank, it would other wise be 172cc. the block is prob 125cc with a big bore kit or could even be a 180cc block with a 172cc big bore kint and a bigger crank size :)

Example is a 200hp/mph bike is exciting but then you have to look at the other aspect of the equation i.e. is it practical ? I have just as much fun going 50 mph on a scoot as i would 100 mph+ on a bike. But at the end of the day unless you have a death wish going 100 + is not very practical (unless you live in Nevada)

So to clear this up I believe that at the world recognised Santa Pod FIA drag strip this is the benchmark and indeed the quickest terminal speed for a scooter over the standing start 1/4 mile however not the fastest as we have acheived 119.81mph (192.77kph)at exactly the same drag strip although in a slower terminal time of 12.1 sec.Any evidence of a scooter (50/70/80/125/172cc) going faster from a standing start 1/4mile on a recognised drag strip with FIA timing lights please post it.
