I mean Norman Osborne breaking his son's leg with sound effects and everything, tombstone gets goblin blades thrown into his back and they stick, norman osborne's "death" was fairly dark with lots of screaming, Eddie Brock makes reference to hanging; definitely nothing near violence as I would normally define but this show had some moments where you knew Weisman wanted a few PG-13 rated episodes.

And it was all about metaphors. What was in Spider-Man 3 wasn't really Venom. But it still worked for the film. They made a film where Peter Parker was becoming self-centred and we had a sympathetic villain. The black suit was a metaphor for his conceition.

Once he shed the suit, it found someone similar to Peter and became an embodiment of his corruption.
