@elipper You're kidding right? Sheeesssh...... that had almost all the qualities and sophistication of a bad wedding band. @Henkehakansson David hit's quite a few clams in this trainwreck as well and his accuracy is FAR, FAR from perfect, I''m afraid to say. I don't know what Alan and Chris were thinking. They shouldn''t do this stuff without Trevor Rabin or Steve Howe or Jon Anderson or Rick Wakeman, etc. You get the idea. They are soooo much greater than five parts when they all assemble. @TheArbiter74 I couldn't agree more. They've done this so many times before and just haven't leaned. Umm, isn't there keyboards in this song? and also a guiarist who can actually play guitar? Calling this a train wreck isn't fair to train wrecks!
@Arthriticprince I love these guys dearly, as you probably do, as well, and this really shouldn't have gone down. You're right, no signature keyboard part, which is ridiculous to attempt without one, and the guitarist blows!!! Squire and White probably had a few too many drinks, and whatever else, and you get out of tune slop!!! Nonetheless, it's amazing what these guys have accomplished musically throughout their careers. This is undeniable.
@Arthriticprince I saw the classic YES line-up perform for free at Tower records, of all places, back in 2003. I got them to sign a few things and they did an in-store performance to support their 30 year anniversary 3CD compliation set. Chris Squire was so incredibly out-of-tune that musically, it was shit!!! I'm afraid to say, it's probably the "drink" and or "drugs" syndrome of a once "perfect" musician!!!! Let this be a lesson, kiddies!!!!!
@TheArbiter74 Yeah, I mean, come on. There's too many stories around by now, about guitars basses out of tune at Yes shows, And Chris "mcguire" Squires antics. Loss of hearing maybe? When Pain of Salvation shared a festival gig some years back with Yes, Chris came forward afterwards to Daniel and complimented him, 5 minutes later when Gildenlöw passed by Chris again and said hi/thanks, Chris was totally absent minded and did not know who he was talking to, and wondered who the f* Daniel was.
@Henkehakansson There are no guitar problems when Steve Howe is in the band!!! Steve Howe should ALWAYS BE IN YES!!!! He is utterly flawless! I''ve never heard the man make a mistake in his life. Not once!!! JUST THE FACTS!!!!!!!
@TheArbiter74 There are. That's were there problems lies nowadays. I've heard him made mistakes for sure, but I don't judge a band by that. Basically I think it's time for Yes to not call it a mood for a day, but to call it a day. Don't flog a dead horse.
Sounds like you have issues with Fox News, yet you obviously haven't watched much of it since you don't know who Mike Huckabee is. You might recall that he was in the running for the GOP's Presidential candidate in the last election. He's also an amateur musician and a big fan of rock music, sometimes he even sits in with the guest artists. Watch the show sometime, you may enjoy it. Then again, you may not, but it's still better to know your "enemy" well than not at all...
No, I don't watch the Fox Network. I figure they can't be worth anything if they have that loudmouth tabloid TV escapee Bill O'Reilly as one of their big stars.
As far as "knowing my enemy", he's a politician, and a Republican one, at that. That's all I need to know. And I don't enjoy watching talk show hosts get the names of their guests wrong.
Well, it's not my fault politicians are only interested in starting wars and figuring out ways to help rich people get richer while ignoring everyone else. You know it's their fault the economy is frelled.
I've seen much worse, they look like they're havin' fun, though, what else do you want? I jam with dudes here and there and we don't always sound good, but it's fun, which is what it always should be. I'd rather have fun and sound shitty than be all serious and sound good! My 2 cents...
@TheFormby If you bring back Jon, the band may sound worse. He's suffering from serious asthma issues and can't really sing right now. Benoit's doing just fine, better than Trevor Horn did when he sang with the band anyway.
Just to be clear...I won't be singing with the YES band for now, they decided to carry on with Benoit, it was their choice, I did suggest I was ready, but the guys just weren't interested, they said maybe this year we could get together, but I'm not holding my breath....I love YES and love the Music I helped create, th...at's all I can say for now.......
Frankly, even I would not let Jon sing. Jon's disease is not simple asthma. This is more serious. There have already been trumpeter who claimed that they were healthy again. Then they died during a tour. I see it more as a true and honest friends service of the Band, if they let Jon not sing. A friend who gets angry is dearer to me than a friend who is dead.
I've always admired Chris Maguire, but I really love Steve Howell, Dick Wakeman and especially Alan Knight. Didn't care for that whole Trevor Thorn period tho...
@rocketdawg44 Hey! shame on you for forgetting Bill Redford and Jon Adamson. They're good as well. Maybe as good as my yuppie friend Robin Wreck from the Wall Streets, here playing the guitar.
I saw them a couple of weeks ago in Poughkeepsie and they were 1000 times better than this. Really, they were fanrastic. Alan White seems rather like he has stage fright during the interview. He sounds like he has a mouthful of marbles! Chris McGuire? Oh Huck! Love the cat.
The guy who mixed the sound for the show should be shot with a ball of his own shit! You can take a great bunch of musicians and make them sound terrible with a bad mix. I think this proves my point...
decades of album sales?? I heard they got screwed buy the record company. Did the guitar player ever play the guitar before this horrible performance.
Read "Confessions of a Record Producer" by Moses Avalon and you will get the whole mix on what happens with musicians getting paid. It's a wonder anyone bothers to play at all. Music chooses people as a career, not the other way around!
This is painful. Nowhere for Benoit to hide without the reverb and keyboard noise. Poetic justice is that Squire's leg delayed this tour. Talk about karma.
Great presentaion. I am glad to see Yes support such a nobel cause. The music is a tad on the cheesey side, but easy to overlook. Fox News is fair and balanced.
This is total rubbish. What were Chris and Alan thinking when they did this? The sound does not resemble any version of the band known as Yes. Sounds more like a poor quality garage band imitation. I love the bit in the end when they show a brief view of the FreeCreditReport band, and then the cat licking the label off the CD. Probably after he dragged this sorry thing in from the highway. This is pure roadkill!!!
I've seem them live recently in Germany and to be honest, they were amazing. The singer was a lot better when I saw him live. Also remember it's not easy singing a song like that without howe and a wakeman. Besides the singer is able to give 2.5 hour shows and not every singer can do that.
Haha I got a -1 for that. Can't escape the truth. Although I do have to say, Benoit is as close as they'll ever get to Jon. It was a miracle they found him anyway...
Haha, agreed, although I'm not sure which song YES (or the scraps of it here) could do on a fluke WITHOUT keys.
Yeah, I got a thumbs-down too. Like I care. *laugh*
That always happens when you say anything negative at all about an artist's video on YT. There's always some pollyanna who thinks the artist is perfect & can do no wrong.
It doesn't mean Benoit's not a good singer and a nice guy -- it just means this was a poor performance. Even the best of us have off days. No crime here.
A Yes song without keys? Hmmm ... maybe "Mood for a Day"? *laugh again*
For the folks bagging on Benoit David for singing "off key" - the guitar was horribly out of tune, so he was screwed from the outset - no way to sing on pitch with the guitar all over the place like that.
For a base player, McHucabee should know he was standing 2 feet from the bass legend CHRIS SQUIRE. At least they finally got his name right during the song.
The guitar playing is better than the singing.

I've seen much worse, they look like they're havin' fun, though, what else do you want? I jam with dudes here and there and we don't always sound good, but it's fun, which is what it always should be. I'd rather have fun and sound shitty than be all serious and sound good! My 2 cents...

What a very sad end to the band I love most 8-((
Bring back Jon before its too late !
TheFormby 1 year ago
@TheFormby If you bring back Jon, the band may sound worse. He's suffering from serious asthma issues and can't really sing right now. Benoit's doing just fine, better than Trevor Horn did when he sang with the band anyway.
mlechman 1 year ago
In Jan 2010, Anderson said on his Facebook page:
Just to be clear...I won't be singing with the YES band for now, they decided to carry on with Benoit, it was their choice, I did suggest I was ready, but the guys just weren't interested, they said maybe this year we could get together, but I'm not holding my breath....I love YES and love the Music I helped create, th...at's all I can say for now.......
TheFormby 1 year ago
@TheFormby

Didn't care for that whole Trevor Thorn period tho...

wonekawa 1 year ago 7
@wonekawa look it's Glen Campbell's long lost brother, trying to sing like Jon Anderson of Yes!
nat00ben06 11 months ago
Also looks like Huck is off his diet. He seems to be gaining much of his weight back that he worked so hard to lose a couple years ago.
hawkhandsaw 1 year ago
I saw them a couple of weeks ago in Poughkeepsie and they were 1000 times better than this. Really, they were fanrastic. Alan White seems rather like he has stage fright during the interview. He sounds like he has a mouthful of marbles! Chris McGuire? Oh Huck! Love the cat.
hawkhandsaw 1 year ago
Funny they are playing a Rabin written song,,, I think Squire and Rabin hate each other,,
4carlisle 2 years ago
Yeah, It's a shame. I think the singer is really good, but I wouldn't pay money to see this. Especially with no keyboard at all! Cute... Cat.

Chris McGuire? No excuse for getting the man's name wrong' Chris should have hit him with his Rickenbacker.

Yeah, I'm embarrassed for him. Huck should have known the name of his damn guests.
crispiegee1 2 years ago
The guy who mixed the sound for the show should be shot with a ball of his own shit! You can take a great bunch of musicians and make them sound terrible with a bad mix. I think this proves my point...

Do these guy's have much money from previous
decades of album sales?? I heard they got screwed buy the record company. Did the guitar player ever play the guitar before this horrible performance.
Dannymusic1999 2 years ago
Read "Confessions of a Record Producer" by Moses Avalon and you will get the whole mix on what happens with musicians getting paid. It's a wonder anyone bothers to play at all. Music chooses people as a career, not the other way around!
wonekawa 1 year ago
This is SHIT!!!!!!!! I can't listen to this anymore!
Chris who?????
Dannymusic1999 2 years ago
This is painful. Nowhere for Benoit to hide without the reverb and keyboard noise. Poetic justice is that Squire's leg delayed this tour. Talk about karma.
AxlSinatra 2 years ago
@AxlSinatra Chris Squire thought he was good enough, and Squire is in that position, this isn't the best version either

This is pure roadkill!!!
axe2grind911 2 years ago
Doesn"t huckabee play bass himself? And he murdered Chris Squires name??? What a dork. kuddo's for yes to have the balls to put that on TV.

gustavito7 2 years ago
I've seem them live recently in Germany and to be honest, they were amazing. The singer was a lot better when I saw him live. Also remember it's not easy singing a song like that without howe and a wakeman. Besides the singer is able to give 2.5 hour shows and not every singer can do that.
hamburger892 2 years ago
Is it just out of me or is Benoit not singing in tune? Probably because he can't hear himself.
pangelfling 2 years ago
It's not just you. He's out of tune, big time. He also messes up some of the lyrics.
Don't know why he wouldn't be able to hear himself -- it's a small stage with monitors pointing right at him (one of which I assume is his).
The guitar in this is just horrid. And why would they even attempt to play this song without keyboards? Ugh.
I've always loved YES, but I hope neither Jon nor Trevor ever see this. And look at the audience -- they're like, "What is this?" *laugh*
Ken5244 2 years ago
Haha I got a -1 for that. Can't escape the truth. Although I do have to say, Benoit is as close as they'll ever get to Jon. It was a miracle they found him anyway...
Haha, agreed, although I'm not sure which song YES (or the scraps of it here) could do on a fluke WITHOUT keys.
Thanks for the reply, and Happy Holidays.
pangelfling 2 years ago
Yeah, I got a thumbs-down too. Like I care. *laugh*
That always happens when you say anything negative at all about an artist's video on YT. There's always some pollyanna who thinks the artist is perfect & can do no wrong.
It doesn't mean Benoit's not a good singer and a nice guy -- it just means this was a poor performance. Even the best of us have off days. No crime here.
A Yes song without keys? Hmmm ... maybe "Mood for a Day"? *laugh again*
Merry Christmas.

DanteDDL67 2 years ago
For the folks bagging on Benoit David for singing "off key" - the guitar was horribly out of tune, so he was screwed from the outset - no way to sing on pitch with the guitar all over the place like that.

For a base player, McHucabee should know he was standing 2 feet from the bass legend CHRIS SQUIRE. At least they finally got his name right during the song.
