  • TV shows are getting like this too. I like arcing and intelligent writing, but damn they don't have to always make you contemplate life and how everything sucks etc.

  • And maybe I'm a geek or something, but what happened to space action adventure movies like the original Star Wars trilogy or even the crazy rip-off films.

  • So there are 3 types of films?

genre (C), indie (B) and studio (A)? Personally I favor b films, a films are too stuckup and I occasionally dig genre films.

  • I do rant a bit from time to time.

  • @DarkstoneEnt Aren't rants fun

  • @keystonecamera can't forget that indie is now considered different from independent even though indie is just shorter version of independent. lol

  • Oh yeah forgot to say you are cute!!!!

  • Thank you for saying that indie films are bfilms. The term b-film has nothing to do with a movie being bad, just lower budget, maybe unknown actors, actors can be known, but they are not considered A List. Hell John Wayne was a bfilm actor before he became Alist.

  • Just realized somebody signed me out and signed in under her account, so the comment shows as hers. She shall rue this day. . . Oh, well. She would have found it funny too.

  • Good job, sir!

  • John, I totally fucking agree with you!! Just know that as a genre actress (yup that's me)I get treated like shit..I have to bitch slap people into giving me respect..but that's in front of my face. I'm a horror whore and will be..PERIOD. In addition, I think you are one of THE most directors that I've ever fucking met and as long as you'll have me as an actress, I'll be there. We love you John. People will LEARN to respect what the fuck you do..you watch.

  • Thank you for information. I still can't wait to see Skeleton Key 3 at Horrorfind and hopefully all of you all

  • They should post it soon. It is going to be there. No worries. See you there!

  • I like good movies.

  • And they like you.

  • Great Video! See you at HF X

  • i understand your gripe. as a rapper, to be considered by major label, you have to fit a certain stereotype. (i.e, gangsta as opposed to nerdy cripple) Although I may be more talented than a majority of rappers out there, I will never be taken seriously in the mainstream music industry. Come to think of it, I'm the John Johnson of rap.

  • John, keep on keepin on! Who cares what those "Holier than thou" guys think? We make incredible films, we make sonetimes crazy films, but they are all a ride. Sometimes a roller coaster, sometimes it's a plane ride with no wings. But they are good. Yeah, there may not be a "Moral to our story" but we can leave that stuff to Al Gore and his environmental movies. You said the main word, CONVENTION. Just look at the support by the fans at the conventions. They show you, ignore those other guys.

  • Agreed. The fans keep me going every day. I'd be nothing without thoughs guys. All 5 of them.

  • Really these are the same people trying to say there's a difference between being an independent filmmaking and being an indie.

  • It's true to a point. The problem is people who are scared of other peoples talent, or organization, or popularity, like to break down other people because there jealous and scared of what that group of people can do, but you know that Johnny, it's a ruff business my man, if they werent assholes and scared of your talent they wouldn't need to have to break down what you do, stay up yo!

  • Thanks for that, but most of those guys can most likely run circles around me as a filmmaker, just want them to respect the horror genre a little bit. WE DO COUNT! Thanks again for the comment.

  • Hell yeh!!! we count, where would horror be today without the classic 50's B movie and massive monster genre films that made Hollywood what it is today. Have we forgotten Ed Wood already, have we forgotten Godzilla and Wolfman, Independents forget that films like Shawn of the Dead and Evil Dead were made with the spirit of a Genre film, They can't respect what they don't understand! All they can do is point out technical flaws and merit of which a Genre film thrives on.

  • Agreed. You and I sir need to storm a castle. Independent filmmakers! Never get a castle, for it will be stormed.

  • oof. i think those indies definitely felt that one. keep 'em comin johnny.. rants are always fun to.. uh.. rant about. even more fun to watch!

  • independent film makers can suck it. except kevin smith, his films rock as do yours!

  • Agreed. Not all are bad, most of them make good movies...But DAMMIT!

  • I love you, man!

  • Nice rant, but who in cville is talk'in down to you?

Breeding ground for indie film? I can't find enough indie around here to keep me busy. I'm going to NY soon because I can't find enough film people in this town to work with. If you're hold'in out on contacts, do spill.

I like the ride. Great people love the ride too.

"Buy the ticket, take the ride." - Hunter S. Thompson

  • Not just C'ville. Surrounding areas as well. NY is full of these epic peeps. Good luck there. But if you are going to work as indie you should be fine. Just don't mention Genres. They might lynch you.

  • I just heard a very similar story from R.A.

yesterday. Great rant. Let it out.

  • Who is R.A.?

  • Git' em Johnny!! Let it out! Let your soul-spew flow!
