@SHODAN451 You're thinking of a different sect. The Witnesses want to "save" as many people as they can, which essentially translates into "we'll get more money if we go after little old ladies who feel lonely so we'll send our kids after their purses the hard way". You're right about the limited number of seats, though I don't recall the #
It's the Westborough Baptists who "know" everyone's going to hell except for them. Or maybe including themselves, they're crazy enough to enjoy that idea
@farvision I did toss the chapters and verses in the description of this video. The transcripts might be too long for a comment box, but I look everything up on BibleGateway.
"Passages are taken from Mark 16:17-18 and Deutoronomy 13" for your convenience
Wow Ed, I can't believe you actually kept that piece of paper there for so long; finally it served it's purpose!
I totally needed one 4 months ago; some young mother at 8am on a Saturday trying to guilt-trip me because I do not follow the right path in front of her own teenage kid.
I wasn't as subtle as I usually try to be because I was lacking the right words to retort and I didn't remember what the passages were, but next time I'll be prepared with words from their own book, thanks to you.
In my experience, JW's never concede a single point. They claim differing interpretations as the work of the devil and almost any other belief as proof of polluted minds that the devil is working through.
I haven't had an opportunity to engage an intelligent JW agent. They all come off as real estate / used car salesman that start touting their conversion numbers in a last ditch effort to 'prove' their point.
I like this approach, it is confronting and possibly has a court case attached.
@messianicrogue Theists in general have a hard time conceding any points. People in general, for that matter. When you're motivated by an ideology, it's hard to break out of the automatic defense mechanisms that get built in.
The best solution is to know more than they do. Be prepared. If I hadn't been so groggy I might have planted the seeds of thought into the kid's mind. Get him to wonder if -his- personal prophets ever drank any poison...

Bart Erhman talks about that Mark passage quiet well, it was added to the bible many many years later.

Nice!! A transcription of the passages along with their sources in the channel description would help!

@Darklordkris Same paper, same sticky tack. Hope it's not another couple years before it sees any use again!
