  • you always do great videos dave, your right more people should go to the woods and try self reliance.

  • Simple and very useful, thanks for sharing.

  • love simple , cheap, homemade bushcraft

  • I like your videos .Very informative and Tams cooking looks delicious.Have a happy and safe new year.

  • this guy is doing simple methods the hardest way

  • @jtboll00

Appreciate your comment.. So why don't you go out into the woods.. and make a video showing me the way YOU think I should do it. I'm always open to learning :)

  • well you did it again u gave me a good bit of kit and knowledge for my kit thanks bushcraftonfire!

  • awesome video as always. Thanks for the instruction, I am already rethinking my get home bag. I'll probably lose the GI poncho and swap in a contractor garbage bag to cut down on weight. Have a good one, Dave!

  • Single Prussik is also known as girth hitch. However, I usually use a clove hitch to tie the pebbles in such a situation since it tends to hold better.

  • Poor people!

  • Bagged yourself a cute little critter I see.

  • thanks for the info.

    Cheers Christine

  • they make excellent rain ponchos also,if somebody hasn't said that already :-)

  • How can this video have 3 thumbs down. Great video brother

  • Love the Ideas David... Thumbs up on the Prussik knots. I've used them rock climbing many times. Ideal for applications like this. Good Stuff....keep up the great vids!

  • nice, using rocks for a fasten point instead of tearing plasting and making a hole.

  • staying dry is one of the first things to take care of. Nice tip.

  • Lol! I've been carrying this in my pack for years. Mainly for packing out game I took while hunting. I've spent my wet nights in the woods using hand warmers to stay warm cause we got caught in a storm. Never once thought of actually using it for a shelter. ( Wasn't nearly as funny then.)

  • Simply brilliant!! One of the best ideas i've ever noticed in the outdoor survival. From now on i will be keeping some garbage bags in my car for relative uses.

  • I want to be buried in a garbage bag so it's also a coffin!!

  • I love this series! I've learned that getting creative is half the fun!

  • Sweet kid, Dave, and a great tip for a shelter. Thanks from Denmark.

  • I am a contractor and an artisan and these construction garbage bags have a lot of uses. Nice video!

  • cool vid dave

  • Good one. Thanks!

  • I think your bags are best used as part of a conical shelter as the bottom need not be completely covered nor the top. Another thought is that a lot of fisherman get pulled into current from not using a belt.

  • i must get me a garbage bag!

    :D

  • Great vid, I never thought about a large bag in 25+ years. I'm going to get me some to carry with me.

  • Nice use of knots. Thanks for the video!

  • Dave again thanks. I also in the fall pick up some of those bright orange pumpkin bags and put a few in the cars. They are hard to miss in a WI winter if you need to signal. Hug to your dad!

  • great video dave

  • thanks for putting these on

  • this morning i had this idea too, to you use a garabage bag as a Tarp, because of the cost's---...you helped me and you have this "aura" of a teacher or like a father...Thank you Dave for this video demonstration..Martin!

  • Very good demo. Adorable kids. Where's Tam? We need more cooking vids, I'm hungry.LOL

  • Great ideas! As Ron Hood suggests, you can always stuff the bag full of pine needles/leaves and use it like a insulated blanket. 5/5

  • Great series Dave. I am looking forward to the next video .

  • Excellant video Dave 5*

  • Good stuff Dave. I've done the garbage bag poncho before and the tube tent. The bags are also very handy if you have to swim across a river for keeping clothes and gear dry as well as for flotation. Dead honest truth though is I use them most often for carting other peoples (and my own) trash out and for gathering firewood.

Looking forward to the future vids.

  • it wouldn't slide with you laying in it

  • great use of those bags. Very good item in a kit as a last ditch

  • Great video Dave. I always keep a couple of those construction grade garbage bags in my packs. Keep up the good work!

  • it works very well .

  • she is cuter than a sack full of kittens

  • Anyone..

ROTFLOL! Rachy is smiling now :)

  • @BushcraftOnFire good job man i love yr vids dave god bless checkout my channel tell me what u think thanks

  • Aww, look. A bag of cuteness! Thanks Dave.

  • Great, as usual! Keep up the good work!

Please, post a video on using a .22 handgun for survival! (I know you have a Walter P22)

  • Good idea on using the rocks Dave. I have an old tarp with torn out grommets that I think I can put back into use with this trick!

  • Great idea for a series Dave. Thanks for sharing.

  • Love ya'lls videos .... Thank you for taking the time to make them as well as your willingness to share your knowledge with us all.

  • Don't forget that the bags can be filled with leaves and used as a mattress. Great video.

  • Aloha dave,

Again resourcefullness is the key to survival. That and multi-purpose gear. Great vid, mahalo na mana'o. Malama pono.

  • Dave I know you hear it alot but thank you for making these videos. You really know your stuff.

  • This is going to be a great series of vids

Don't throw away anything no telling what dave will come up with next that you'll want to try. Good job rachy and tell mom to get cooking up some more vids. thank guys

  • Now it's people like you who mix bushcraft and common sense together.

  • I think that knot is called a lark's head.

  • Very astute Motor :)

It is a Lark's head.. which is a single Prussik. Generally a Prussik has 2 or 3 turns.. but they are generally the same "knot"

  • I've used these for yrs and they definitely work. I spent 4 bucks and some change and had 15 bags that I could use for food, water collection, shelter, even a mat to sit on if the ground was soaked. Tons and tons of uses.

  • Great video. Not everyone can afford a 200 dollar tent. I always have a trash bag in my pack, tons of uses. 5/5

    Slainte!

  • Another solid great video series and video from Bushcraftonfire thanks Dave

  • another great video dave. keep up the great work bro! and thanks for sharing!

  • thx-great ideas...

  • Excellent video, thanks! Can't wait for more!

  • Great job Dave. Economic and fits in your pocket
