I agree that he's needed in some capacity but in all honestly I wouldn't really miss him if he was gone...

Sadly Sookie is being used mostly as a plot device and it makes me angry because she should be the protagonist but she gets the worst writing of any character. I hope it changes this year...

@trixiedoor In my opinion, Sookie has been a plot device since the show started. She's nothing like the character in the books and quite frankly I don't understand what Eric nor Bill see in her. She's a weakling and always making stupid decisions.. I can't help it, I have always been a pro-Bill, I know we are suppose to hate him, but I don't. I even liked the character in the book. He's more complex than Eric, he's not a open book. You just never know what to expect with Bill.

@MsDaytime I actually didn't hate Bill in the books, whereas in the show I really dislike him. I disagree on him being more complex than Eric. In the books he's nowhere near as complex as Eric, in the show he's objectively more interesting than in the books but I still don't really care. I don't find more unpredictable than Eric either... they're both pretty consistent once you figure them out...

But I know what I can expect from Eric..he's typical "bad boy with the heart of gold"...typical...I'm just sayin. With Bill, you don't know if he's bad, if he's good,you just don't know and to me that makes a character interesting. He's unpredictable, that's why I am such a Bill fan.

Both just superficial stereotypes, every character has one...but they're both grey characters with many layers. Bill is what he's always been to me: not bad, not good, just weak and self-righteous with a martyr complex LOL. I just happen to not find him that interesting. Different tastes....

This is SO far from the books I can't even say... And usually I HATE it! I can't STAND when shows or movies take too much "creative liscence" with adaptations! But that being said.. A lot of that Alan Ball has done storyline wise has been an improvement on how they played out in the books and I'm REALLY enjoying seeing how things play out in his view! Though NOT loving "king Bill" At. All. More Eric less Bill please!

@MySleepyGrenade well...all things considered, apart from some facts not playing as in the books and some others being anticipated, Alan Ball is following pretty much the books. sure, king Bill doesn't exist in the books, lafayette should be dead, tara isn't one of the main characters, marianne claudine and other characters whith their stories are later in the books.... but if you watch ANY movie or series taken from a book, you see that all the main points of the books are in this series

If it weren't for all the annoying characters that Alan Ball insists on placing such importance on (Bill, Tara etc), I think the series would actually be better than the books..

@racheladams456 Could be. But most of the clips I've seen definitely give the impression that the baby is somehow possessed or affected by evil Renee. Arlene even hears Renee's voice a few times. Perhaps Renee is using his flesh and blood to come through to this plain. We'll definitely have to wait and see. If I know anything about this show, it's that a lot can happen in one season.
