  • Jerry at the 6:00 mark KILLS me. So sweet, the memories (and the Fat Man still helps out when you ask him to; Saint Gerome is my Saint Christopher). Remember his smile next time you get aggravated at the stupidmarket, or the bank, or in traffic. Remember what you learned. Remember that feeling of dancing unabashedly, of the power of tribalism, and of blowing the roof off. Remember love. It is the Law. Let us rise UP in his memory, and prove it. I love you (yes, YOU), from the bottom of my heart.

  • dizzy from reality..thanks for the posting....

  • THIS AINT NO LEFT COAST.

  • THE STONES R MOVIN IN VA.

  • Saw the Dead here late that year in the fall. Seventh row center and I'll always treasure the China/Rider they delivered that night in that old building!

  • 49th B day today ! have been jammin for a cpl days trying not to go into serious flash backs from all these tunes lol Nothing like a bunch of hippies shakin their bones to give me perma grins though. • 1a.m. watched the president and somehow these lyrics went swimming through my head! hmmmmmm And the world full of petty wars singing i got mine and you got yours, ........................singing someones got to turn the page. so The kids they dance and shake them bones ,sing ashes ashes all fall down..... Thanks Rick

  • Is it just me or does the verse section sound virtually just like Althea? A different chord here and there, but very similar.

  • @CaptainFantastik1 Think it's just you....

  • @CaptainFantastik1 Not JUST like Althea. Although I see where you are coming from, at some parts the chord progression is quite similar.

  • So the kids they dance and shake their bones!

  • TS came on the radio this morning while I was getting mt 9yo boy ready for school. In the blink of an eye memories and emotions came pouring in. Combined with the powerful lyrics it was only a moment before a tear fell from my eye. As I tried to explain these tears of happiness to my boy he just didn't understand. Today he is playing hooky and will instead receive a lesson in Grateful Dead and how the band and music still affects my life. Very close to Spring E.C. Shows. I will take my son.

  • @RatDog67 "Be grateful " you have radio that plays that. I am single father with 13 yr old daughter her top songs on a new ipod were sugar magnolia and box of rain from live recordings. lol make a Dad proud ,tears of JOY. She gets IT though .To much "Rainbow" philosophy in my soul to NOT pass on . Even being drug alcohol free I have always kept my INTEGRITY instilled in me by oh so many kind folks from these halls and the western states,This is always my feel good tunes if I need woke up Rick

  • Nothing like 'em. First show at 11 years old, after 35 years, they never get old or played out for me.

  • I love this video. theband kicks ass that fucken rocks and it kicks ass. the dead still rule to this day. dead heads rock on and it will be in your hearts if you are a dead head like i'm. rock on dead rock on.

  • Bobby sounds great. Anybody got footage from Richfield in Aug or Sept of '93?

  • One of Bobby's finest contributions to The Dead.

  • they say theres one tune at your first show that ropes you in and your hooked on the dead, throwing stones was mine back in 1989! and i've heard the tune all so many times before that first show, the dead just made it mine that night!

  • beautiful send off!

  • my first love passed 9-27-10 and asked this be played for his memorial. XOXOXO did it for you Freddy

  • little piggies sucking on the teat...

  • march of 93 i saw them do this at the Knick in Albany NY !!!

  • I love how the lights shine down at 5:13. also love bobby's solo from around 4:20 to 6:40. down-to-earth yet transcendental, gorgeous. thanks again fellows.

  • Forever changed. That's what happens when you really experience the dead and understand their music. It embraces your heart.

  • Bobby goodness starts at 5:50 - great!

  • BOBBY SUCH A GAS!!!!

  • THIS IS SO WHAT MATH CANT DO.

  • The stunts in JC 2 set it at a distance from almost any other game! If you haven't tried it as of yet, you really need to head out over to JC2DownloadXcom (replace X with . ) and pick up the absolutely free copy of it. It is well worth the dl. Believe me, you'll love it!

  • a peaceful place so it looks from space.

  • Happy Earth Day.

  • you can not complain about this if you were THERE!! What an eternal memory!!!! DANCED MY ASS OFF!! XO love you DEAD!

  • this should be played every day on the radio so that the message gets through

  • Bob weir is on FIRE !!!! BAD BAD MAN !

  • by no means am i an expert on the guitar, but this, to me, is the most creative and capitivating solo in terms of their studio work.. i never get sick of it and it moves me each and every time.. i'm referring stricty to the studio version but that is not to say that i do not love the live stuff.

  • The greatest of the great songs from the DVD "SO FAR!!"

  • if you look at the album cover in the dark jerry's face is E.T's head.check it out.i saw it peakin on some good paper and bout freaked out!

  • jerry'sawesome

  • It's Bob's rendition of West LA Fadeaway- " had a steady job...haulin' items for the mob"

  • 93!

  • Gawd, I so love all the members in this band, for again today, making ma day

  • awesome

  • Man.. I just REALLY miss him!

  • The future's here, we are it, we are on our own.

  • The problem is that the future wasn't there, you were not "it", and none of us are "on our own". I love the Grateful Dead in so many ways but even from my teens I recognized this as a bullshit song. It's a simple minded view of governance of the planet even if you set the lyrics to master manipulation to emotion and music. One of the things that always endeared me to the dead was that They communicated their philosophy non dogmatically In this song they boldly claim many falsehoods as infallible.

  • Sipping powders back and forth, black(gunpowder) goes south white(coke) comes north. Great socio/politically consious stuff!

  • classic bob

  • great song

  • rat cat alley roll them bones.

  • WOW! It's cool to see a show that i went too.

  • this song should be sent out into space for the aliens to find so they can understand our species.

  • that made me laugh, great song!

  • @geekorthodox9 , If they ( the aliens) did understand our species as a WHOLE they would steer clear of our planet ! That is of course with a few insignificant exceptions! PEACE!

  • @geekorthodox9 ...And avoid it!

  • @geekorthodox9 "Comet" Elenin... look it up

  • @geekorthodox9 so they can understand how US, humankind has ruined planet earth at an astonishing rate??? Might just piss of E.T even more lol

  • I just love, love, love when bobby kicks and jerry gives bob a little bow, at 6:20, love it!!!

  • amazing.. love it too.

  • cracking up!!! haha love it

  • @madabox

    Amen man....

I always cry when I hear this ... the last song I heard from them live together

  • @madabox Me too! haha

  • thanks!

  • does anybody have a tab for the -lead- guitar part throughout the vocals?, not the chords

  • i love at a dead show hoe u see people so old they need oxygen masks there and kids so young they cant even crawl WOW the dead are impressive! best shows to go to ever!

  • can't agree more with your sentiment. not sure how you meant the comment about masks, whether figuratively or literally. if the latter, i hope you realize that the masks one saw at a dead show were not supplying oxygen!

  • very poignant song for 2009, as climate disasters are friggin everywhere! (we may lay our home to waste) It is reported the main cause for our earth's current demise is the livestock industry (the hunt begins and the bloodwind calls) ... Back in 93 Albany, i first laid step on the DEAD parking lot and was forever changed! Veggie burritos anyone? :o)

  • Excellent point . . I went fishing for a version of this tune . . for that very reason . . . who comes to mind "the darkness never goes from some men's eyes"? Cheney? Osama?

  • he used to sing "come waltz in the stars celestial ball" . . i guess that was too "stoned hippy speak"

  • that's all Bobby speaks

  • Loved this show. Miss the good times the kind times. I was so happy in those days

  • Freedom was great before the Clampdown!

  • Those were some pretty tight licks and runs by ole Jerry during the ascension. Who said he didn't still have it?

  • "If I could turn back time" -Cher

I remeber leaving these Richfield Coliseum, shows, grabbing some ice at the Speedway Truckstop, and heading back to the Holiday Inn to resume a very good evening.

I remember a SWEET Bertha as well, but I think that was '91.!!

  • This was my first dead show and will blow away any concert I have ever been to. Although my girlfriend passed out during stella blue and freaked everyone out because we thought what happened to her was serious for awhile.

  • does anybody know where tabs or a lesson for this song is ive looked all over the web and all i can find are the chord charts

  • right after the tape cuts, bob plugs his guitar back in

  • rem uses " ashes, ashes all fall down"

    in "Bad Day"

    which I curiously find interesting.

  • my car got towed at this show lol

  • Bobby opts for "rape the earth today" in lieu of "instead of food today"

    That lil rascal

  • Jerry was such a tight soloist

  • Awesome little kicks by Bobby

  • jerrys face is priceless durin bobbys leg kicks haha

  • steller ='] Good Grateful Dead.

  • this shit is 1 of my favorite shows......best throwin ever

  • i like the one at hershey park in 85 the best...then meadowlands 1987....

  • From the skull came the lightning; In it's rain came the wisdom named crazy.

  • Drove from Chicago to Cleveland through a BLIZZARD for this show. Awesome!!

  • I was there! And at many other shows too. Some I remember as if they were yesterday... Other's not so much. This one envokes a grateful memory... Thanks for posting it.... But I just have to say this... Oh please shut up to all the nay sayers... who really cares...

  • did this or Althea come first? they both reminded me of each other .

  • Mslaerik,

Althea came first. Throwing stones was first played in 82'.

  • back your facts up or shut the hell up

  • Carribean,

It's time for you to come out of the closet.

  • was @ this show, blizzard of 93, was a crazy show, was 9 mos pregnant with my daughter CORRINA. They closed the interstate. the local hotel(i think it was a holiday inn) was selling floor space for 10.00 for people so they didn't freeze. shakedown st was inside the hotel, dogs running around, drum circles sage burning, venders, it was insanity...but a great time to remember

  • i was told never to throw stones in a glass house

  • Fact your a Jack-Ass

  • I like Jerrys songs better, but this tune is still great.

  • Carribean,

    FACT: You're the fag.

The Dead would not have been the Dead without Bobby.

Who cares what he did in his personal life. He rocks. Now go fuck yourself.

  • When I first heard "Throwing Stones", I thought the song was awesome! I still do. It let me know, in Dylan Thomas's words, that the Dead weren't going gentle into that good night but raging against the dying of the light.

  • Love for real not fade away

  • brothers and sisters dead heads i love you all

  • I know it's been a month... just curious if you've still got the buzz goin' ;)

  • i love you all deadhead brothers and sisters

  • jerryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

    love you forever.

  • jerry jerry jerry jerry

  • this is the way it always was....Jerry sings back up always on this tune....WEIR ON OUR OWN!

  • we are on OUR OWN! Smoking jam! Phil hits!nice lil blow away jam!

  • no, its rare for jerry to sing on the add.... but great to see

  • Why is it rare for Jerry to sing? He sings on a lot of the songs.

  • jerry even sings a litte, very rare!!!

  • heh those kicks put a smile on Jerrys face

  • energetic for the 90's!

  • Does anyone have the music video for T. Stones? They made one with an old west theme, with the band in cowboy outfits. I saw it 20 years ago and havent seen it since.
