i was 13 then.. god forgive me but those time were great... we had very little.. but very happy.. families WERE closer.. life was much better.. never hear of murders, drugs etc.. 5 *****
@fairhillnorrie No, and there were no battered wives, no drunk drivers or bad priests. And sure even the leprachauns were able to go around with thier pots of gold. Ah, the good old days.
@boo66 yes of course there was alcohol... well whatever people say i have fond memories of those times.. drugs at school was unheard of or drug gangs or drug related crime.. ... murders were very rare....
I love stuff like this from a more innocent age! Interestingly, the song is the English language version of 'Un jour un enfant' which was joint winner of the 1969 Eurovision Song contest for France.
Of course, on RTE Television, they don't have any commercial interruptions on Christmas Day. When I first came over to Ireland in 1972, I was suprised that they had ads, but only between programs or one or two times during a movie. Irish TV is very intersting, don't you think?
I don't suppose any continuity announcements survive from before the programme starts or after it ends, do they? That would be an excellent find. I haven't seen much RTE presentation from this era, if any!
A lot of bad stuff was happening in Ireland then which has thankfully come to the light of day.

Think of all the kids getting buggered and beaten and deprived while this nonsense was going on.
Now think of all the kids getting buggered and beaten and deprived as you read this post.
Kind of makes you wish it was 1970 all over again.

I tried but I just kept thinking what a curmudgeon you are and how you need to get over yourself.
