  • @stabnshoot Yes, that does work. Most folks who use that technique use ChapStick.

  • I've also heard beeswax can be used on the tendon and can tighten up or lubricate a loose or tight bit.

  • @taerinx That's an interesting idea. Ya know what they say... "You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead". At least I think that's what they say.

  • scott, hi! I came across your videos today looking for a good begineer not so much cash pipe. So, you convinced me and I purchased 2 pipes from you. the general and the gentelman. I hope I made the wright choice.

  • @paulwilliamsd Glad to hear it. Those are a couple of my favorites. I've been keeping track of how any smokes I can get out of a Gentleman pipe, and I'm just about to pass 100 and it's no worse for it. Check-out my tips by visiting my Youtube Channel. Scott

  • I used masking tape, messing around with glue and paper wasn`t working out for me

  • @SCBCWTB Sounds like a good alternative. For what is masking tape but paper and glue. Well done.

  • For a loose fit

    1) Gently heat up the tenon of the bit that fits into the shank

    2) Find a drill bit that's shank end fits "snugly" into the tenon, and gently insert into the hole of the tenon.

    3) Remove fairly quickly, and allow to cool.

    Should fit more snug!

    Thanks

    Mike

  • @Dustwheel Good tip Mike.

  • Alright I went the the tobacco shop today and got 1 pound of tobacco for 30 dollars. the flavors I got was gran marnia and cherry. can you give me tips on how to store the tobacco?

  • This is something that I've not given much thought to, because I don't tend to store much tobacco. I suspect this will change as we will all probably need to start hording tobacco as our right to smoke continues to erode. I'd suggest a Google or Youtube search on the subject. Scott

  • @SHOOPDAWHOOP0987 anything airtight would work, zip lock bags, or one of those glass or ceramic containers with the rubber seal around the mouth. the idea is to keep the moisture in.

  • Got a question, what kind of tobacco do your use. I and getting two diplomat pipes for christmas and I do not know what kind of tobacco pipes use.

  • I'm a big fan of the tobaccos from another NC company called Cornell and Diehl. Search Modern Marvels Pipe Smoking and they're in the episode. You can lean a lot about pipe tobaccos at a great web site called TobaccoReviews.

  • thanks for a quick response, but im wondering where can I buy it from a store, my local smoke shops do not carry pipe tobacco, Iive in vegas by the way. My last resort would be to buy it online

  • Dude, I've purchased pipe tobacco in Vegas at the HAVANA CIGAR COMPANY on Paradise. They didn't have much, so you might want to call ahead. A quick Google search also uncovered: Mr Bills Pipe & Tobacco Company

    8450 W Sahara Ave Ste 113

    Las Vegas, NV 89117

    800-688-0302

Give them a shout and report back.

  • WILL DO thanks for the help. I am going to buy the tobacco on tuesday

  • Hey Aristocob, Thanks for the help you gave me, I went to a tobacco store on rainbow and 215 and this store has the largest selection of pipe tobacco in all of nevada and its 40 bucks for a pound of tobacco, the store has of 125 flavors and he says that he will give me a discount because i am gifting it. I will tell you how the tobacco is.

  • Is it better smoke the same pipe all day, or switch out between pipes. i smoke 3-4 bowls a day

  • That sounds like a two pipe a day habit to me.

  • thanks for the bit tips, S. got an uptight Eaton needs a li'l attention - your vid comes at a perfect time - take care, eh! MM

  • lol he has his glasses hanging in the back of his colar

great tip with the wood "paper"

  • You noticed that? I've done this for years since my days of working in a wood shop. It seemed I was always dropping the safety glasses that I'd hang on the front of my shirt every time I bent to pick-up lumber or to adjust a tool. One day it struck me that if I put them on the back that they'd stay put. They've been there ever since.

  • thats what i thought would be the reason but

at first view the glasses looked like some kind of native hair lock on the back of your head

    lol

  • Great tips!!

  • Try thread tape works great

  • Are you talking Teflon tape?

  • i have been using tissue paper for years. the only drawback is dont make it too tight a fight or you may crack your stem. has happened to me. the only other drawback is that you may also get a leaky pipe. the clear nail polish method thats up on on pipedia works quite well too. i have found it only works on the slightly loose stems. the really loose stems not so much.

  • I can see how the tissue paper method would work, but once I get the nail polish on my nails I can't handle my pipe very well. Must be doing it wrong.

  • You have to apply the lipstick first :o
