Their boss didn't slap a contract down and say "Here, your interviewers now go interview conventions with no comedy." they were instructed to be rude, otherwise how would they be funny, by making actual puns and jokes, that's not funny at all, take family guy for example, if it did not have it's stupid flash backs the show wouldn't be funny at all it's a comedy show not the actually news.
