You can rant about the awful CGI, embarrassing song, the fact that it doesn't fit jabba's palace at all, but in the end the biggest fault of this change is that the scene doesn't work anymore. The original one put all the attention on the dancer, the band is just playing in the background like sort of menestrels. The point is to show jabba's cruelty and what is waiting for leila. The new one just put all the attention on the band, and you don't even have time to get what is happening to the girl

It's not as if this sucks (and it does suck) it's just that the original scene was better paced and directed and that Lapti Nek (original song) is also much, much better than Jedi Rocks.

Totally ruined it for me Return of the Jedi was too meant for kids! I know it's a fantasy but I was expecting so much more from this movie even George Lucas admitted most of the movie was just fill-in to get to scenes with Vader the rest was simply throw-away scenes to keep the story moving.

If they just wanted to replace the original creatures with CGI characters that would be acceptable. But they didnt have to restructure the entire scene and add some annoying music to make it look like the intro for some sort of perverted porno...

Its ultimately Lucas's story so I won't tell him what to do even if I don't agree with it, but man thank heavens I have the option of watching the original version because I really don't care for this part. You might as well have a winged pig fly across the screen. It's his thing, but I don't get it, and see no reason why THIS version is the one played on TV.

On a side note, Kirk would have done something for that Oola girl if he was there. Though she'd probably prefer the Rancor to this.

George Lucas should be locked in a box somewhere far, far away from his films, so that he can't dick about with them any more.

The original was near perfection, this is... well, its shit, lets be honest. The CG looks about as real as a nine pound note, and the music is much more bland and derivative. And who the fuck decided that one of the creatures from Where the Wild Things Are would look at home in there? That person needs to be shot as well.
