I learned how to use MacOS on one of these in high school 20 years ago. Still have fond memories of that thing, too. :D

As for specs? Motorola 68000 at 8 MHz, 2 or 4 MB RAM, built-in shared-memory video (512x342 mono), and it looks like this one has the original (probably Quantum) 40 MB SCSI hard drive.

I have one at home that still works, and that I hot-rodded with a 1.2 GB Quantum out of a Power Mac. It needs a mouse, though.

This should still be the normal speed today. We have processors hundreds of times faster than the Mac classic, but it still takes longer. Modern OSes shouldn't load all of the unnecessary junk that they do.

Adding to that, i do know that Apple has an operating system, no need for the parenthesis. The only people I know that run Windows are the ones that don't do much on a computer. They don't use it's full potential. Mostly for music, games, and internet. Therefore, it cannot produce that such potential.

Actually I coded my fair share of programs from batch, vbs and vba vb.net and C# in windows but mac has a better user interface and it's simpler. With proper knowlage people can use windows to almost anything the difference with mac is that it's easier to do those things.

@gumis56tfcx It depends largely on the hardware rather than the OS. Some computers can boot OSX, linux, or windows faster depending on what they have... and how the BIOS is designed.

But yeah, the old machines boot up real fast. Kind of sad hey? We're in the era of bloatware.

@troshs That's another issue, a lot of the consumer processors on the market today are released at "simulated" intervals. For example, older xeons can still outperform, or perform as well as the latest core i7s. And then there's the intel atom *shudders*

I still use an old 3.4 Ghz Pentium 4 for a lot of audio and music work. The computer itself has loads of ports, unlike the newer consumer computers which have like 2 USB ports.
