Yeah,...Bill was a great guy,..I'd run into him every where,..around Indianapolis,..playing at "The Needmore Life Community Festivles" just south of INDY,.its people like him that made Indiana great,..theres one of his buds still playing in Nashvill IN, John Franz,..we all miss Bill, but he lives on through the memories, his friends, family, and his Music !
The photo at the 1:50 mark of this video shows Bill's right index finger missing the tip. Thanks to pre-OSHA standards in the Link Belt Bearing punch press department.
I first met Bill in high school in 1965 at the county track meet (Hendricks County Indiana). He could run like the wind. He was the county champ in the 220 yard dash-a real gut race. Guts were what Bill's music came to be. Later I worked with Bill's dad Bill Sr. who was the chemist at Link Belt Bearings in Indianapolis. Bill had worked there also, and had taken off the tip of his right index finger in a punch press mishap.
I saw Bill perform when I was in college at Ball State from 1972-1976. I also interviewed him at his house in Bloomington in his basement in I think 1975. Until I went to his website, I had forgotten how great of a harmonica player he was...that he played on Song of Freedom. This song would work well for the current medical marijuana movement!
Bill was a friend of mine. I met Bill in Bloominton back in the early 70's while I was playing in group called "Touch". When I moved to Florida in1981, I found him playing around Sarasota, Fl. My girlfriend and I followed him where ever he played. Over the yeas I have put together a pretty good collection of Bill's music. A lot of it he gave to me personally. I'll share it with anyone for Free. Let's keep his spirit alive. E-mail me and I will send you what I have.....beachrick47@aol.com

Went to the Bluebird (I think, it might have been somewhere else) Saw Bill play and was immediately hooked for life. Interesting story here: I met my best friend for life that night. The place was so crowded, he and I were jammed up leaning against the back wall, started talking, and haven't been out of touch since. As a side note, I was working at The Bike Rack that summer, and sold Bill's bass player a bicycle.
I was a huge fan also - saw him play in Indy and in Bloomington many times.
Once I saw him play in Bloomington, and me and my girlfriend were the only ones that showed up. He was kind enough to play some songs for us. Great Guy and great musician. I am trying to find some of his music - CD's - they are not in production any more. If anyone knows where I can buy them, please let me know, mkenley@yahoo.com.
I became acquainted with Bill and his music at Dunkirk Square in Bloomington in about 1975. I have his 3 albums and have heard rumor that there is a CD promo that he produced himself. Would love to find a copy of that. I think it is titled "Tears in the Rain", but not sure.

Bill was a tremendous talent back when I heard him live several times in Indianapolis in the ealry 1970s. Under the radar, and more's pity.
