Men and young teenage boys looked so much better back then, when hair was groomed and shirts and pants fitted correctly. Now fashion is drab and hair styles are awful.
johnnu278, you failed to mention the great radio jingles back then, as a kid I looked forward to them almost as much as the music. Everything seemed better when you were a kid and the world was new. Cheers. JD
@sleepytimegalz Thanks for your note. In most cases this channel will carry the best audio available of the recording, and, in some cases, the only remastered audio of the recording.
Great post,thanks...waited too long for tix to see Bobby, Frankie, Fabian in FL this winter. Now, please pass me some Odell Hair Trainer. My pompadour is so unruly these days and I need to be sure it stays in place during the next category 5 hurricane!!!!...wish I could still buy it...smelled great/worked so well...oh, and a belated happy birthday to Elvis...just wish I had purchased some "Cruel Red" or "Hound Dog Orange" lipstick back in the 50's for one of my future girlfriends...Tunesmith
@crazyromanian1 thanks...sorry, not quite ready to "clip" my flowing locks...(once every 50 years or so I run into a beautiful lady who is impressed that I still have hair!)... please know that I am familiar with Butch Wax...used to purchase it for my "brush cut"..."whiffle"..."butch"...whatever you prefer to call it. Back when I was using Odell I was getting a "regular boy's haircut"...whatever a regular boy was...
90 cents for a "regular boy's haircut"...$1.25 for a "brush cut"...Tunesmith
@tunesmith09 My first cool haircut was a "Princeton". The barber gave it to me on my 8th birthday and I thought I was Elvis or somebody...think he lubed me up good with either VO 5 or Brylcreem. My mother hated it...
The soda tasted better because it was made with real natural sugar not cheap corn sweeteners like today. The industry found a cheaper way to produce soda more profitable but not better.
Unfortunately many things went the way of more profitable not better quality so yes it was better in the 1960s for the most part.
The commercial jingles were also better in the 1960s, more lively with catchy tunes, not like the boring commercials of today which are mostly just talk (which is cheaper to make).
Awww.... those were Days . In Hindsight, was everything Better ? Or does it just seem that way now ? I say most things were Better and Life a lot simpler . Sorry Gen X-ers . And this is one of Bobby's Best along w/Wildwood Days. .
Pruner15, it really did seem that way. And the A&W root beer seemed colder and thirst quinching, and the snow was fun to play in, and hide and seek in the dept stores while your mom shop was a ball, and kick the can at night attracted all the neighborhood kids to play. And in the distance from some passing car or transistor came the sounds of Rydell, Elvis, Petula and a host of people seemingly having as good a time as you.
@johnnyu278 Ohhh, so touching and very well put!! I was born in 1969 in Bethesda, Maryland and my dad LOVED this guy and all the others like him!!! He hated the Beatles!!!...LOL... God Bless!!
@44skins Thanks 44skins. Music is music I guess. Sometimes the simplest things teach us the most or are more enjoyable than something complex and you have to really concentrate on to get it.
@johnnyu278 Hi, the 60's were fine, but growing up in the 50's was Wonderful and I wish that I could do it again...Loved everything about it....the cars and the things that we did with them, then there was the Awesome R&B which is now called Doo Wop. I loved it!! hugs...
The Twist era came to an end in USA sometime in about 1964. The Beatles led the English re-colonisation of America. It was literally The English Empire all over again!
Practically the whole planet was colonised by four mopheads from the State of England. There has never been anything like it since, has there?
what a good strong voice> I didn't appreciate him first time round as I was in school and struggling with exams and couldn't concentrate on anything else. Better is sometimes 2nd time around
I CAN ONLY SAY THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES YOU HAVE GIVEN ME

Out of all the "kids" that came out of Philly, I always felt Bobby Rydell was the most talented of singers. Thanks for uploading.

This song showed Mr. Rydell's amazing vocal range more than any of his other similarly brilliant recordings.
