@mraaronyuppy Actually I only made use of a ref chassis from a dead ref. In fact I removed all its dead components, so it can't refrigerate anymore. I just made a new cooling system of six 12v 5x5 fans, 3 for the intake, and 3 for the exhaust. That's what you hear humming, when I opened the ref door. I did a lot of hard time grinding & drilling for the vents. The intake vents have foam filters. So, it's definitely dry cooling, no condensation happening inside.
That is awesome. I'd love to have my mobo in a fridge since the case is so ridiculously laid out (it was from PC World, and the only PCI-E slot is rather stupidly at the bottom so my GPU heats up pretty quickly).
Actually it's only dry cooling. The refrigerants and compressors have been thrown away (they weren't working anymore anyway). It's main cooling system are 3 filtered 5" fans for the intake, and another 3 5" fans for the exhaust. 6 fans all in all. Many thanks, Sir TheBoeing144. Someone finally appreciated the idea.
BTW, this computer switched to Ubuntu (Karmic Koala 9.10) as of August 2010 for better security and software support.
it's no overkill actually. juz so happen the weather in the philippines is just too hot for PCs, that's why i had to device another cooling system, without installing a most costly airconditioning system. other reason is dust proofing the system, including the monitor. 'juz trying to extend my PCs life by discarding its old chassis.
relax guys. i have my own well thought objectives, why i did it. check out my previous reply to mrc4nl. i hope you all like the explanation. thanx for posting here btw.
no point about linux. i juz happen to love linux. the point of the video is to show my friends what i've done to my old computer w/c keeps accumulating dust. now inside a refrigerator casing it's 90% dust proof. as u can see the monitor must be included inside so that it too benefits from the ref's dust proof feature.
this may be a stupid question but if i may ask
how did you get it so there is no moisture build up from the fridge, breaking the computer?
i always kinda figured refrigerators caused moisture / dampness / ice build up in some cases (well, with my fridges anyway)

I forgot, 'coz its been a very long time now. But definitely Lawrence Fishbourne's character is not yet in it. Jil Grissom hasn't retired yet.

was it necessary to put the screen in there?
LineRiderPro333 1 year ago
@LineRiderPro333
Yup. It should be, so that the monitor will also benefit the protection and cooling of the refrigerator.

so whats the point of that?
mrc4nl 2 years ago
@mrc4nl Because linux is pwnsome!

@madjimms
ok, linux is.
my aim is, if there no GUI
what's the point in cooling it down witch overkill?
if its a game machine it would be fun.
everything else is a waste of money.
(if you have to buy stuff)
mrc4nl 1 year ago
@mrc4nl Linux has a GUI.... & you can game on it with WINE or Cedega
madjimms 1 year ago
@madjimms
OF COURE I KNOW LINUX *CAN* HAVE A GUI,
BUT THERE IS NONE IN THE VID.
SO WHY COOLING OVERKILL FOR A SIMPLE PC/SERVER?
I AM TALKING ABOUT THE VID, NOT ABOUT LUNIX IN GENERAL

man, m rily telling you, there's really no overkill here. the cooling system is quite enough in our hot filipino environment.
