No knock on the garretts they are good machines,but not the best as stated here.

I use c-scopes and wouldnt use anything else.Ive used a friends ace250 and its a good machine but sounded a bit like a doorbell which i found annoying.

Jewellry mode was best as far as i can remember.

So many brands and models I do not know were to start. I bought my first detector two weeks ago but sent it back that day as it would not turn on with new batteries and the control knobs were busted. They would just grind and not stop and any point, just kept spining. It was a pioneer 505. Any suggestions?

what are you kidding??? that thing is junk!!!!! well it isnt really junk but it sure does find a lot of junk and tells you its a good target. all detectors will find good stuff,but i dont want to dig every damn piece of trash out there to find a good target.think i will stick with my whites dfx and explorer detectors.they are much better. payed for my dfx in 2 hunts.took me nearly a summer to pay for the 250 and it cost only a fraction of the cost of my other detectors.but to each there own.
