Would someone please exlain to me just exactly what Mikey has done for OCC, that makes him think he's so valuable. Except for his sidebar humor, he does nothing. If he wasn't senior's son he would have been long gone waaaay back. If it wasn't for his dad's work ethic, both of these ingrate kids would be nobodies.

I think Paul Jr. and Mikey getting fired was the best thing for them. Paul Jr. was lazy at OCC, but since opening up Paul Junior Designs, he has grown up a lot (at OCC he showed up late but he does not do that at his own company). In Mikey is getting help (for his drinking and it seems like he goes to therapy) and he is trying new things (his art stuido for example). Paul Jr. and Mikey are growing up while Paul Sr. is growing into a jerk (or at least into a "I hate Paul Jr. club")
Its actually quite common in family businesses for the kids to claim they built the business and try and steal it from the father. Happens all the time.
One thing you notice after having watched every episode of this family tragedy is that Sr neve talks about his father. Why is that? Maybe his mom got knocked up at the truck stop or she didn't have enough money to pay the milk man or something. I'm not a big fan of Sr, but he is right. As Mike's boss he needs to fire Mikey and put him in his place. As his father, he needs to mentor and help Mikey straighten out. Family business is TOUGH. You have to draw lines and maintain a business relationship that ignores family ties, and maybe even set a higher standard because coworkers look at family as "easy street".
That said, its obvious time and stress is catching up with Sr, he needs to do something before it's too late.

@markmywords312 Well Mikey didn't anything but laze around the shop that time. He made changes in contract that gave him less working hours and two days off. He didn't live up to his part of the bargain. If he wanted to be an artist then he should have done so. He's at that age where he has to figure what he wants to do. Even though he has his own art gallery, he stills hangs around PJD rather than work on his "art". He's capitalizing too much on the show's popularity both then and now.

cont. i dont think people understand that mikey knows he was a bad employee, but he believed he still had a value to the show, so he was trying to at least hang on to the checks he gets from being on the show. sr was trying to freeze both his sons out from the show, but the network cancelled instead of allowing that. so mikey hangs at jr's shop but not as an employee so there is no stress about what he should be doing and gets to be on air and get paid.

I think Paul Jr. and Mikey getting fired was the best thing for them. Paul Jr. was lazy at OCC, but since opening up Paul Junior Designs, he has grown up a lot (at OCC he showed up late but he does not do that at his own company). In Mikey is getting help (for his drinking and it seems like he goes to therapy) and he is trying new things (his art stuido for example). Paul Jr. and Mikey are growing up while Paul Sr. is growing into a jerk (or at least into a "I hate Paul Jr. club")

I'm not a big fan of Sr, but he is right. As Mike's boss he needs to fire Mikey and put him in his place. As his father, he needs to mentor and help Mikey straighten out. Family business is TOUGH. You have to draw lines and maintain a business relationship that ignores family ties, and maybe even set a higher standard because coworkers look at family as "easy street".
That said, its obvious time and stress is catching up with Sr, he needs to do something before it's too late.

Danny took control of ironworks, and has made it a decent business.. Sr doesn't talk to him. Jr's made his own bike building business (after making occ what it was for over 10 years) and sr doesn't talk to him. Mikey has always been there to help things along, cut tension and do the little things. Sr doesn't talk to him.
