Real drummers don't use double kick? WTF? Who the hell are you to decide what a "real" drummer or percussionist is? All you are really saying is you can't play as well with your feet as you can with your hands. A lot of people hate on double bass because of the music it is used in, mostly metal. FACT: Jazz drummers used double bass first, metal guys made it popular, look it up. If you knew anything about playing, you'd know it's all about making your own music, having fun, double bass or not.

your good @ basics and timming .too bad you got sucked in to double kick. come on man....real drummers don't use double kick..f any1 wants 2 rave about Neal ( rush)..he's Not a "Drummer"..He's a percussionist..there's a diff..John Henry was a drummer! .. specific drumming for every song .you may be able to play what he plays, but never how he plays it.. your do'n a fine job!

For those who might not know another way of counting out loud would be, 1abd, 2abd, etc. Versus, 1e&ah, 2e&ah, etc. Great videos Van, the best I've seen for drumming lessons.

whats the point of counting like that how does that help?

That's how you count 16 notes verbally because they go by so fast. This way you know which note to hit the beat on & which ones not to. Count out 1abd, etc while clapping each number. Then clap out only the number & the d for example. Hope this helps.
