By the way, they live up to 15 years. We have a couple rabbits at the rescue where I work who are 11 and 13. But most bunnies end up dying when they're a few years old because people don't take proper care of them.

Chappaman... I hope you stick with your plan and go on to law school. But what the guy meant was, kids get the rabbits when they are 11, go away to college when they are 17 or 18, and the parents are stuck with rabbit for 3-4 more years, so they drop them off at his door.

oh im glad martha had this little session about bunnies! im a rabbit rescuer and educator and since easter sesaon is coming up, we need this kind of things to educate the public! i am actually concerned about how he handled the bunnies tho... always support the bottom! i have a paralyzed bunny and its mainly caused by mishandling... but other than that, THANKS! =]

They are not recommended as a pet for young children. They must be cared for by an adult, the child should be taught to help, but this is not a pocket pet hamster stuck in a cage in some child's room, never looked at by the parent.

I just love that bunnies are shown as pet here and not a caged animal...but apparently unlike Marc's Dutches, my minilop makes lots of noise! Its just really quite and you have to be close to hear him! He purrs when I cuddle him. (Bunnies purr by grinding their teeth, it's different from cats.)
