I saw Brian and Roger on tour a few years ago with Paul Rodgers, singing all the old songs...It was amazing to be able to see them perform, but it just wasn't the same without you, Freddie. I love and miss you. We all do. Your talent will live on forever. <3
What's so amazing about this video is that in spite of the physical pain/deterioration he was going through, he could still summon up the magic that only HE possessed and convey it through the camera for 4 minutes of visual pleasure. The downside is that even though people all over the world were suffering from AIDS, his case was magnified because of his fame/celebrity. There was no escaping the harsh glare of the photographers, reporters, media and general consensus of the time.
I feel the lyrics are autobiographical for Freddie. He knew the end was mere weeks/days away by this point. I think this was the perfect "swan song" for him, as he was looking back on all the great triumphs of the band and his personal life. And yet when he says "I still love you", I think he's referring to 3 things: the fans, Mary, and his lover Jim Hutton. Many people put things into perspective when they are dying, and he did the same with this song. Rest on, Freddie.

There's something about a performer who can own a stage like an emperor, who reaches towards heaven with an outstretched arm and grabs it. Some performers are exquisitely sensitive musicians who knows the minds of his fellow performers and makes them his own, who can raise his melody to a thunder or lower it to a whisper. Some can say so much just by raising an eyebrow. Only the very best can own every aspect of performing. Freddie was even better than them.
It makes me sad that I'll never be able to see Freddie in concert. Screw Bieber, Cyrus, and other artists that will never write a masterpiece like this and don't have a 3 octave range.

Queen is still my favorite band of ALL time. I just watched the Bio and was just as thrilled as if I was back in the 80s. I don't agree with the comment that this performance was "heart wrenching" because his days left were few. I found it touching and beautiful because he perfomred it with heart and soul and great dignity despite what he knew was coming.

On the the Days program on Bio, i think they said that poor Freddy was having a hard time remaining standing while he was making this video. he wasn't the most attractive person, but he was an amazing artist that had a presence and charisma that drew the fans to him.

When this video was made, Freddie already knew he was dying. I believe the rest of the band did as well, which makes this video a little more sad. But the words are still somewhat optimistic. One of the greatest songwriters/performers/vocalists there ever will be.

When this video was made, Freddie already knew he was dying. I believe the rest of the band did as well, which makes this video a little more sad. But the words are still somewhat optimistic. One of the greatest songwriters/performers/vocalists there ever will be.

Okay... he didn't look THAT bad... just a little thinner (but he was always a slender guy). It's only in hindsight that his appearance here seems unsettling. But he still looks decent in this video...

Freddie Mercury was totally brilliant! I admire him for this video, just look at how sick he looks and that he looks so sad in pain. You can tell he's dying if you compare him in this to other videos but he pressed on!

He is so thin! Seeing him like this tears my heart out. I can't imagine what it must have done to John, Roger & Brian. That they could do this is proof of how much they loved him, & respected him & his miraculous talent.
I go back to the Live Aid videos - see him so strong and healthy & I curse the fates for taking that from him, & him from us. But, thanks to youtube we can still see him at his glorious best.

As heartbreaking as this video for us to watch, just imagine how BROKEN HEARTED, Queen/ the band members, were watching their dying best friend of ' 27 " years felt, Freddie always corrected anyone who said he was the leader of Queen, he said " I am the lead singer", I think we owe the band members a little prayer and love too. Imagine 27 years and performing together to the very end.

Every time that I see this video, it´s like to travel to another dimension......in the end of it, when Freddie look up and said " I still love you", then look down, is eyes and him know, " this is it, this is the end..." that final look to the camera filming....is so deep......FREDDIE, ALL YOUR FANS WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!
