  • The stupid cop was in such a hurry to get in the first blow that he fell right on his ass in the mud. Hilarious!! What a bunch of clowns.

  • Remember kids: Fasten your seatbelt to prevent spinal injury...getting beat up by American police while unconscious with a broken neck could mean electric wheelchair city.

By the way, this happens hundreds of time every day in U.S., Canada, Australia and Europe.

  • I am glad that I am not a policeman or ever had been one becase of all the innocent people put in jail that is now out and all the drug arrests that are out and all the brutality that the police have committed & hurt many other people by lying and putting them in jail there must be millions of very angry people when shit hits the fan they will hunt police down like a dog with rabies and cut his head off and put it a pole police and armed and retarded they R cowards

  • The officers deserved to get fired for this and everyone else who was involved and did nothing. This was not a racial issue and we all know Birmingham has a history of police brutality during the Civil rights era. The fact is that there were black and white officers involved in this beating and they crossed the line and oversteped their authority. True, the suspect was wrong in almost running that officer over and eluding capture, but those cops were wrong as well.

  • when fleeing in a 2 ton death machine, police brutality should always be thrown out. defending a fleeing crook (CAUGHT ON CAMERA!!!!) is ridiculous. but u see it from ignorant asses all the time. its not like the police give u a headstart, and then when they catch u shake yur hand for a good match. theres only one reason a crook runs, because he's guilty.

  • @jackjolli If I ran into the fray and was raining down punches on that guy's dome, I'd be in jail. The cops should be in prison as well. They had no right.

I guess this basically destroys the whole "There are only a couple of isolated individuals who give all the law enforcement officers a bad name." argument. Seems to me that being vicious jackholes is pretty common among the people wearing badges and carrying guns.

  • Here is Langford talking about B'ham Police and corruption. I remember him even calling them stupid...so calls the kettle black Mr Langford with 60 felony convictions. GOOD RIDDANCE.

  • The officers that beat the guy was from the Hoover Police department. reported in the Birmingham News. That is why Langford had no clue as to what went on. They were speaking to the wrong mayor.

  • No they weren't. They were B'ham Police. I know I am B'ham Police

  • None of these cops should have faced criminal charges or even reprimand for their actions in this case. Here we have a wreckless man fleaing leathal force, who RUNS down a police officer--will kill to get away. The anger shown by these cops toward this was incredibly restrained. Compare this scene to other clips and you will find this remotely mild and understandable.

I disagree with this mayor's read. This is a political response. That guy deserved this.

  • @whitfkl318nu What happens to a suspect is determined AFTER a guilty conviction. It's the judge's job to pass down punishment, not a cop's. Punishment is not in their pay grade.

  • I think we should take all these macho bad ass mofo's put them all in a huge ring feed them nothing put pcp and jack daniels have them beat the shit out of each other then when you have the last guy standing put him on a pedestal give him a trophy then shoot him in the fucking head

  • the police are just like the criminals! Just a bunch of meatheads. Now they all can talk about it when the driver and those cops are all in jail together. how can you tell if someone is a cop? a bad haircut, no sense of style, and the smell of scumbag entitlement!

  • i think a few of those slipped on the wet grass. Should get them better boots.

  • i hate crooks. Him stealing the car and not stopping for the police is worse. Hes bashed and robbed heaps of people. Ask some of his victims what they thought of the video...If u were a victim of him wat would u say? its not a black thinfg its a crook thing. Stuff crooks

  • Fuck that thug. you see him try and run the officer over? He needed his ass beat. Ass whoopin's are an awesome lesson!

  • I love how the main offence is over looked, attempt murder of police officer, fail to stop, prob a stolen car. Hes prob bashed members of the public. Put his criminal record on here. Go the cops.

  • So we can put in jail for vigilante behavior ,but ii's okayif the cops do the same thing? You act as if they were defending themselves. The guy was unconscious!

  • The copthat turned off the video should be terminated immediately. The one guy that runs over and starts beating on his head should be prosecuted and put into general population. The other cops should get reprimanded and six months without pay.

  • Says you! Well then, it must be so!

  • And I'm sure you think you should turn off the camera. If your balls are so big, why hide?

  • Sure buddy!

  • LOL. What point are you trying to make? Do you think they should have turned off the camera? Should they have beaten on a guy that is unconscious? Tell us Mr. Policeman.

  • You don't really want to hear my opinion. Seemingly, you have an issue with law enforcement which distorts your perception about law enforcement officers. I'm sure the suspect was an innocent victim of police brutality and did nothing wrong at all. He was absolutely within his rights when he almost ran the officer down, and there was absolutely no reason whatsoever for anyone to be pissed. Hope that helps!

  • I always want to hear other opinions. However, you are ignoring the real issue here. The guilt of the perp is not an issue. What the officers did after he crashed is an issue. They broke the law, went way outside of departmental policy. Committed felony assault and failed to provide proper medical care after he crashed. Those are their jobs as well. Also, turning off the camera was a sure sign at least one them knew they were making a huge mistake. Please defend their actions. I want to hear.

  • I'm not defending their actions. Granted, their behavior seems unprofessional judging from the information available on the film. Furthermore, the individual they were chasing absolutely was not within his or her right when they were putting citizens lives in jeopardy. Everyone wants to jump all over the police all the time when the fact is, whether they were right or wrong in their actions, there wouldn't have been an issue if the individual responsible for the crime wouldn't have committed it.

  • Their behavior is reprehensible and the videotape , at least before it was turned off, proves that to be true. Some of the officers were acting in a criminal fashion and were eventually fired for doing so. This video is perhaps the best show of how some cops should not be cops. They have no self-control and we cannot and should not attempt to predict their outbursts. They don't get a pass on acting like criminals. They are paid to do otherwise. Yes.. PAID to do otherwise, not expected.

  • The public did not "jump" all over these cops. Their illustrious department concealed these tapes for as long as possible so they could attempt to brush the incident under the rug. That attempt speaks volumes about the credibility of this precinct. Totally dishonest and should not expect and does not deserve teh benefit of any doubt. They are trained and paid to behave in a fashion totally contrary to what this videotape exposes. Are all cops bad, NO. However, some of these cops are now criminal

  • i live in birmingham and we have had the same police chief for years. larry langford is a lying nigger!!!

  • Actually Birmingham does have a new police chief: A.C. Roper

  • Each one of these cops and the cops who helped hide the video should get at least twenty years in jail each.

  • I'd say the gas chamber or the electric chair. Pure abuse of power.

  • all those faggots on CNN r just tryin to make him look stupid. everybody thinks that people from alabama r stupid. im glad that that guy got his ass beat!!!

  • the cops did tey best to hide the tap THATS WHAT HAPPENED

  • damn right!

  • SupaYoda......I think he said ''i was elect in late november and this happened in january so i had been in office a little over a month'' i think it was consistent, probably a month and 10 days or so...

  • more currupt than the russions lol

  • there are tons of corrupt cops out there. There were these cops who busted down my door with shotguns and a "warrant", told me and my buddies to come back in 2 hours or get arrested for my grow op, when we came back after several hours all my plants (around 100) were gone and my place was trashed. And also I can't recall the number of time when my buddies lost their cash in their wallet after spending a night in drunk tank or the holding cells. Corruption is rampant. Terrorists with badges!!!!!

  • This was a whole lot better than the Fox ews discussion that argued that those officers should be reinstated.

  • Apparently, CNN doesn't catch it when folks contradict themselves in one sentence...

First he says that he was in office since November and in office for a month (actually, Nov-Jan is 2 months), and then he says it happened under the previous administration in the EXACT SAME SENTENCE. How on earth did they not catch that?!
