It's cooler to plug a low voltage electrolitic capacitor in the mains voltage. The reaction is much more dramatic and really quick, with a real bang and sometimes fire sparks. But you obviously shouldn't try this at home.
thats cause by the electrolitic paper beetweeen the alum sheets, the electrolitic oil in the paper begins to boil and pufff, it not explode with fire, just gas. the rubber thing SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPAND BEFORE THAT HAPPEND.
The capacitor vented correctly, as it should. The rubber seal should never come off, because if it does, the capacitor will explode more violently and will cause damage to the PCB and other components.
