  • your rendition has a sweetness reminiscent of Paul Simon, Bob's rendering conveys all the rawness of emotion that only Bob can bring to his musice

  • Excellent . . . (are you from the Midlands?)

  • One of my favorite songs. Nice job on the voice and th guitar.

You seemed to have caught to the essence of the song and of Bob's intent for the song.

  • Bob Bennett is one of my favorite Chrisitian artists. Though my faith has brought me to agnosticism, he is one artist that keeps me on my thin string of belief at all. The song "You're Welcome Here" by Bob is pretty hard to find, its not even on iTunes. It might be on his website, but its one of the best. I grew up going to Bob Bennett concerts with my parents, and he has been a central part of the spiritual music in my life. Thanks for the cover.

  • What a great job. I don't think it matters who sings a song like that. It's such a meaningful and powerful song and I appreciate you putting it on here. It really touched my heart this morning because of what I have been going through. Nice to see Bob comment on the song too. What a great guy, song writer and musician he is. Powerful songs.

  • @Quantanthead What I was meaning by the one thing that I said was "Whether Bob sings this song or you sing this song...the song still has the same impact. Really touhces the heart. Thanks again.

  • You said it correctly, It truly is a powerful song regardless of who sings it. Bob Bennett has written several such songs that are deeply spiritual and cathartic. Thanks for the comment.

  • Great job!

  • Don't know how this escaped my notice until now. But I wanted to post my thanks for a fine version of LOTP. I am always so gratified when someone brings new life to one of my tunes by spreading it around to their circle of listeners. Anyway, for those who were asking, "Lord of the Past" originally appeared on the long-out-of-print CD of the same name (1989) ... but I re-recorded a solo acoustic version on THE VIEW FROM HERE" which is still available at my web site. Again my thanks, Bob.

  • Thank you for your gracious comment, which I had to read twice to convince myself it wasn't a joke. I would be negligent if I failed to testify that your songs have spoken into my life uniquely and most profoundly. I look forward to what more the Lord has to say through you.

  • This song is the cry of my sould. Very nice, you did a good job!

  • wow, I'm having a hard time finding this song online... it's not on Itunes, and I don't even know where I can find the CD. I'm glad you recorded this, because at least I got to hear it. :)

  • I would think that the CD would still be available through Calvary Chapel. Bob is affiliated with them. I suggest emailing or calling them and inquiring.

  • Yes he is y que Dios le bendiga.

  • I love this song! Thank you I enjoyed your singing very much! Jesus is the Lord of our past!

  • An instructional video would be wonderful. I wold also liike for you to play Bob's "hand of kindness. I don't know what album it is on, my daughter found the words, and in the typical Bennett form, they are beyond profound.

  • great job!!!! I have searched the net for the tabliture. The first chord. is it an open B form (b+d), or something else? The time you go up the neck on "Oh how I want you to" is that Emajor form of something else. the double hammer on is that with the C and the A into an AMaj7?

Help me Obie Juan, your my only hope.

  • Thanks! First chord bar all strings of 2nd fret except the 6th (low E). Those are the notes. You may want to alter your fingering to use your 2nd and 3rd fingers so transition to the next chord is easier. "Up the neck" is diminished chords. The hammer is D bass 4th string with G-C-E (CMaj9) on strings 3-2-1 hammering on to A-D-E on strings 3-2-1 (DMaj9). Haven't worked with tabs but it's on my to do list. I can make you an instructional video if you like.

  • And many more !! Bob Bennet was a rare talent with a great voice. What happened to Bob B. is he still playing some times or any new CD's?

Gent above rendered this very well!!

  • Thanks! He has played in So. Cal area a couple of times at Calvary Chapel events recently.

  • Great representation of Bob Bennett's song...

Where is "Whistling in the Dark"?

  • Thanks! I've covered a couple of BB's other songs but never that one. He's a great writer/musician.

  • Whew GREAT message!

  • I agree. Many of Bob Bennet's songs are profound yet musically beautiful IMO.
