  • not hatein just sayin i love how people post videos....which means internet.....ask questions...... . . . .realy? theres always google. like the tarantula

  • the mexican red knee tarantulas are a slow growing spider

  • Dang. Today when I got a Chilean Rose Hair, there was a red knee spiderling that they charged for $60.

  • So let me get this straight,

you first BUY a tarantula and then go out and ASK what it's growth size is for when you can HANDLE it.

that's like 3 fails in one sentence. The more I watch your video's the more annoyed I get.

Tarantula's are not toys stop treating them that way. First you need to READ up on your species BEFORE you buy them. so you know what is best for them.

also I do not recommend any handling unless necessary, and not just handle them to be a youtube hero.

  • shut up charlie proberley knows more a t's then you ever will!!!

  • My Mexican Red Knee Sling is about 6 months old I believe. I only got her a few days ago. Due for a moult soon I think but I hope he does well. My first Tarantula. Good luck with your Spiderling!

  • you have a thing for bugs and weird pets that i wish i had but whe i see a bug i just have to kill it.

  • she's soooooooo tiny

  • Dude are you single??? :D All the guys who see my tarantulas are scared of them.

Ahem. Anyway, I bought a redknee spiderling back in December. Her first shed with me was on 2/14, then 3/14, then 4/10. She was about 1/4" when i first bought her, and now she's over 3/4" :) Hope yours is doing well, that's the rate mine's grown.

  • Taking care of it isn't that hard man, finding size appropriate food is the trick. Cricket legs is your best bet. B. Smithi is a pretty slow growing spider, but I'd imagine in the right heat it would reach 1-1.5'' in around 4-6 months. GL with it man, and grats on the spider.

  • are all of your pets expensive to care for?

  • well yeah dude the food does cost more than dog or cat

    food would

  • Oh, she's so cute!

And to think that most people like to show off their puppies. XD

  • Growth often depends on how the Smithi is taken care of and if it is male or female. I've only had females and generally my females took 6 to7 years to reach adult, I've known people who have had less but no less than 5 years. This isn't to say they are going to be that size forever, they should reach around 2-3 inches in 12 months from sling and as a Juvenile they're quite handable at that size, though obviously still more skittish than the adults.

  • dude how maney tarantulas do you have?

  • Make sure that thing stays HUMID!! However, I don't think you will have a problem with the Redknee's. I would recomend everyone who has one, to breed it, because they need help!

  • Mine is the same size to.... I have had her for a month and she still hasn't molted.... Safe.........

  • yea they take long to grow mine has molted once so far

  • I've had my spiderling for about 2 or 3 months and she's only molted once. Shes soooo tiny and they grow VERY slowly BUT I think its better to watch them grow. They are extremely beautiful when they get big and are expensive the bigger they are.

  • not sure it it's been mentioned yet, but they take around 7-8 years to fully mature. but if cared for properly they can reach 4+" in 2-3 years.

  • They are hardy. Just keep the container lightly misted so its humid, but not so much that you get mold cause the spiderling can get a booklung infection and die. Terrarium moss with cocoa fiber is what Im using and it works fine with my salmon bird eater sling, which is very miniscule. The smallest ever in my collection. Mexican red knees don't grow very fast so its important to sustain them in their sling stage the best you can. Your salmon bird eater will grow fast, once established.

  • I was wondering if you knew how long it takes a spiderling red knee to grow its leg back? I got one online and i noticed it was missing a leg. Will it grow back and look like the others?

  • she "grows" a new leg after the next molt, don't worry :)

  • ive got a red knee ive had since it hatched and be asured they do take there time growing 10 mm to 3 inch at least 6 - 8 months but dam its worth every day wited and more ....

  • ya i got the T fever to, and im pretty sure desert species such as B. smithi are slow growers, but im not sure

  • hey charlieg, can u give me the website that you buy all of your Ts off??

  • i got mexican red knee about 6 months ago but it was only 2.5 inches but now it nearly 6 lol

i fed it 5 tiny crickets and a couple of flies a week and it always ate them all haha i predict it will have grown anothe inch by july hopfuly lol!

  • lol that can't be a mexican red knee if its growing that fast, you must have something else.

  • How many t's do you have

  • 22 after 2morrow but 18 today lol i know its not enough

  • @CHARLIEG187 dude what if theres an earthquake in you r area, all those spiders running aroung lol

  • i payed 9pounds for my mexican red knee tarantula i have had mine 2 years now she getting bigger :-)

  • Nice man, B.smithis are cool, but they're on the slow growers. Expect about 3-4 years to mature

  • god lol i think ill feel good knowing i raised it tho sorta like an acomplishment.....u seen my madigascar hissing cock roaches?

  • Ya, sweet, can't have roaches. What Ts are you getting?

  • parents wont allow it. I have GBB they grow very fast. I would avoid getting a king baboon spiderling. Really really slow growers, take about 5-8 years to mature. I'm gonna be adding a king to my collection, but it will be a wild caught adult female

  • yikes thats a while maybe ill steer clear of the king den and yea my parents hate them to lol

  • If you want the King baboon, better go for an adult. But they're really slow growers like some of the Aphonopelmas species.

  • cant have roaches? y not? lol and they have a green bottle blue i should b getting n he said there getting a king baboon spiderling so if so then that also

  • dat suxs but its worth the wait

  • Wow. $30?

They're quite expensive in the UK.

I think you're probably looking at about 6 or 7 months before she comes near to being a size where you can hold her safely, maybe longer.

  • lol i know all about that, i payed £52 for a 1" b.smithi. it took me ages to find one so i just nabbed it.
