  • This has been recorded by so many artists, I used to think that nobody could better the version by the Casino's, but I have to say this comes out tops! I'm sure that the slipnote style of the piano player must be Floyd Cramer? This really is a super version!

  • @longboarder771 Can't imagine it done any better, one of my ;special' favourites.

  • one word for todays music

    ROTTEN.

  • Nice! I never heard this before. Really nice take on this song.

  • @amsedelm One of my faves.

  • Great song and no disrespect for the artist or his fans...but Johnny Nash's version is no comparison.

  • Without counting the years or days, I always dedicate and play this sone for the most wonderful woman in my life, my best friend, my lovely wife, JoAnn . Dear live has been so much fun with you. This is our song. I love you!

  • sounds good, I like the Neal McCoy version also. Thanks for sharing

  • I heard the take of Eddy Arnold and I honestly believe is the great one

  • So much fun hearing this wonderful song again, he was one of the greatest when I was a teen ager.

  • Like I said, I come back each month to visit and remember the good times and always for my wife.

  • He does a good job on this.

  • What a treat-stereo! Johnny Tillitson never sang a bad song.

  • I continue to visit and listen to this wonderful song each month. It has given me more years of pleasure than I can count. And, as always, for my wife JoAnn. I love you dear!

  • @XD454009. And I always remember you've visited before. Welcome and see you next month!

  • The Casinos version was the best seeing how it was there song

  • @culinary531 Yeah the Casinos were Great but Johnny Does Great also.

  • One of my favouorites - don't forget to listen in stereo!

  • wonderful posting,thank you.

  • I grew up in the 50's and 60's and had the honor to meet Johnny twice. Once in 1963 and once in 1991. Age has not changed that wonderful voice. Catch him in Branson if you can.

  • OH just sooooo Heavenly..thankyou for posting.

  • This song just keeps reminding me of what a wonderful wife I have. thank you Johnny Tillotson for such a lovely song, and thank you SirBasildeBrush for uplading it. Pure sweet music for the ages. For my wife, JoAnn, as always each month.

  • My pleasure, as always.

  • Every month I return to play this beautiful love song. After almost 50 years, it's still just as if I just heard it. For my beautiful loving and wonderful wife, JoAnn.

  • Welcome back, and hello to JoAnn.

  • what a beautiful rendition of this classic!! Love the way he did this one!!

  • Beautiful, pretty much perfection!

  • what a nice romantic song

  • A truly beautiful song, silky-smooth stereo.

  • I always believed that the beauty of music is in the ears of the listener but I still find it very hard to believe that in 40 or 50 years time rap music will be loved and remembered like this music is today.

  • ...or the old folks home will be full of Madonnas, Britneys, and Ice-Ts.

  • @whathoney73 You're mistaken. In 40-50 years this music will still survive...rap will not.

  • I've just got to rate this song as one of the best ever by Johnny. Superb music that will withstand the test of time. As always, I dedicate this song to my lovely wife of 31 years, JoAnn. I love you dear!

  • Doo-Wopp and Oldies like this are long remembered after 40 and 50 years and the memories last forever, unlike the so-called music now days which is quickly forgotten.

  • Pure, clear everlasting music for the ages. You simply can't beat this for a true love song. I return every month to hear this one.

  • Hi again, I remember you from your old comments. Thanks to you and JoAnn.

  • This is good!

  • This wasn't A big hit for Johnny on the billboard charts, but not bad for A solo singer. Johnny was born in Jacksonville, Fla. 4/20/39. Raised in Palatka, Fla.Teen idol, pop singer/songwriter. Appeared in the movie JUST FOR FUN.

  • Awesome !!!!!!

  • salute to johnny

  • talk about a blast from the past

  • This is and ever will be one of my favorite romantic songs....when Johnny Tillotson sings it. Very few pop singers have his combination of a pure, lyrical voice with perfecr phrasing. To my ear he sounds rather like an opera singer who excells at bel canto.

  • to me he sounds great

  • 56Johnny :

He sounds better than great. His voice is just extraordinary & I haven't heard many like it outside of an opera house!

  • Sounds even better in Stereo now some 44 years later. What a beautiful love song. I dedicate this to my wife of 31 years, JoAnn.

  • Oh Yes !!!!

  • belle chanson mais je prefere Johnny Nash

  • SUPER LOVE SONG!

  • Truly, one of the best.

  • tis true gov'nor...simply the best.

    Bobby Brush.

    :)

  • pROBABLY HIS SWEETEST SONG !!!!

  • Thanks for the comment. BTW, I'm a big Bitch Boys Fan, lots of CDs. 'Big Noise From Makaha' is one of the best instrumentals I've ever heard, and the opening of 'Devojko Mala' is just so haunting.

  • rEALLY..YOU'RE KIDDING ME- GREAT !! What a coincidence...it's a small world ha ha ..check our new stuff...we just covered NEVER ENDING STORY on last gig ... all the best

  • No kidding! I once played just 'Big Noise...' for an hour in the car into work when I first got 'Ride The First Wave' CD. I'll take a look at your new ones.

  • wAU ?? Cool ...i am speachless... have you heard original version...i ma curious which one you prefer :))?

  • No, never heard the original by the Majestics. Does the original have that spaghetti western-style whistling in it as well?

  • No no, we changed most of the songs and really re-arragend, changed them and in some cases re-wrote the melodies or add second guitars..that's why many critics say "they are like ours"... The fact was that many of songs were OK for the 60', but really to simple for 21 century to cover them just the way they were,,,

  • Well you did a great job. Actually I just posted The Chantays and "Wayward Nile". It reminds me of the Bitch Boys' sound (with a bit of The Clee-Shays), especially those vibrato twangs during the chorus at 1:15 and 2:05!

  • WELL I FOUND ONE CLIP ..by some other user ?? Or is taht you, too..nice tune...great to cover it :))

  • Fantastic song!!!!!

  • So Romantic!

  • So right - and even more so if you use the easy-click stereo link I've just added top right.

  • I always come back to listen to this song. Now after 44 years, it's still lovely music and one of my 5 favorite songs from Johnny. THANKS SO MUCK AGAIN!

  • The pleasure's mine. Thanks for listening.

  • i am sooo glad someone finally uploaded this song i love it soo much x

  • Difficult to believe it hadn't already been posted!

  • This is one of the best romantic songs I have ever heard. The instruments and the incomparably smooth and melodious voice of Johnny Tillotson blend together flawlessly. The melody & lyrics are simple-but only a truly gifted singer could sing it this well.

  • Well said, we're in perfect agreement.

  • i love him!! ooooooooooooooooooh....

  • One of the really great singers, and songs from the 60's. Johnny was on the MGM Label at the time. I have always liked this song.

  • Hi XD. One of my & Mrs Basil's all-time favourites. Silky smooth, and just beautiful in stereo.

  • SirBasil, Thanks, I agree 100% In fact, I have 5 copies of this song on record, and at least 8 more copies of it on CD. Guess you could say I really like it. By the way, I met Johnny in person just for a few minutes in 62-63 (can't remember now) at Ft. Jackson S.C. He was a great guy then, and still is today.

  • That's a serious collection! I met Johnny during a concert interval in Bristol, UK in 2000. My 8-year son sang this song to him!

  • very nice friend
