@isaacredy7 your unit have gone into a sort of 'rage' mode, where you can't order them anymore - they just go round trying to kill people. (Barbarian units and Elephants are usually the main units associated with it)

Therefore, Almost every powerful faction in the game has a macedonian influence( In the campaign in the game, for example, is Macedonian). Lets hear it for Macedonia

Germanian tribes where known for using spear formations such as the schiltrom and a simple wall, it was unlikely that a phalanx was used but maybe something similar, remember Greek merchants may have sold there military knowledge or wealth to the Germans

I thought they were known for fighting more as individuals and not in any advanced battle formations like the phalanx is... is RTW just bullshiting around, or is this actually how some of them fought? 0o'

I need help I'm really bad at this game but I've been practicing. Every time I have a battle ( eastern roman empire ) I have a frontline of three spear units with 2 comanitenses (or something) on either side. archers behind them, carriage ballistae i send forward to pummel their army on the left. i send all my cav. to the right to flank and attack from behind. but I'm not able to defend against flanking actions. solution?

I agree with the prince of Scotland, when you spread them out so much you weaken your force. If I were you, I would put a Tiger Tank in the back of my line and use Howtizers as much as possible, and if you run your force arounds too much you tire them.

Your style is horrible. You spread your legions out to wide and try to match to much to finish your enemy. If i were you i would blanace out my army with a mix of calvary,archers and the different types of infantry ( such as pikeman and swordsman.) I can see 10 differents ways to beat you and it would be extremely easy.

as long as you time it right you can redeploy pikemen quickly just by telling them to attack someone, they'll turn on the spot instead of shifting the entire formation then tell them to stop and turn on phalanx mode (turn it off when redeploying/turning/ect). simple. as for the archers, who cares? they don't make or break the battle they only contribute to it, protecting them if it is *convenient* is good but otherwise it isn't worth focusing on.
