  • I live in Australia and we don't have shortening so would I be able to use copha as a substitution? Or would butter or margarine be better? Please can someone let me know before Christmas!

  • @Lyseybabes Margarine is closer. If you Google "shortening" you will fine several informative articles.

  • @Lyseybabes Hi! I don´t live in america either, I live in norway, I thought we didn´t have shortening here because this is a really small country, but we had it! So google it up! Here the brand is called philadelfia or something, and it is a wrapped rectangle and it is white see through, sort of looks like pure fat and calories! Haha, but I think if I can find it you can too! :D

  • @Lyseybabes yes you can use copha

  • AHH! :D That ending always makes me so happy! The little gingerbread people get to go to a party! ^_^ Also, I like the music (^_^)

  • Could you use wax paper instead of a baing sheet??

  • @QuatemalanGurl21 NO. Wax paper will melt.

  • @alt4960 what other paper would you use?? and where would you but it??

  • @QuatemalanGurl21 Your store should have parchment paper. If not try a brown paper rubbed with oil or rubbed with butter so it doesn't burn.

  • @alt4960 thankz

  • THATS SO FAT

  • yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Can i also use it on 190C or 200C?

    When i converted it said 190.555556 C

  • @Fikisko 190C mate. 5C more won't harm them either...

  • I have a couple of questions...

Since I'm from Europe where i live we don't have: molasses so can usse honey? shortening can i use butter since it's simmilar?

I'm asking these questions because I'd really like to try this recepie. Thanks

  • these look so cute

  • What's that ingredient after one cup of granulated sugar?

  • @tinyybutmightyy A cup os 'shortening'. Basically a lard or fat that is solid a room temperature, gained either from animals or vegetables. Typically it has higher fat content than butter or margarine, and gives the dough the crumbly texture, that can be seen here, by prohibiting the production of long gluten strands.

  • @tinyybutmightyy

    1 cup of sperm

  • soo cute at the end!!

  • looks delicious but complicated

  • I made this recipe 3 times already and still loving it!

  • I am 11 and made this on my own...this is personally the best gingerbread cookies ive ever had!

  • best recipe ever! thank you! :)

  • VINEGAR?!

  • is pizza dough the same thickness and can you just use flour and water??

  • umm i have two questions

    1. can you use a certain amount of cinnamon for this recipe

    2. how many cookies does this recipe make?

  • There are lots of different gingerbread cookie recipes out there. Personally, I make my gingerbread men from premade, store bought dough. I may tackle homemade dough someday in the future. One thing I'd suggest is rolling them a little thicker and pressing in some raisins as buttons or eyes before baking. Being a spice cookie, I find gingerbread pairs better with raisins and other dried fruit rather than candies or other sugary sweets.

  • This might sound really bad.. but i've never had gingerbread cookies :$

  • Lol i haven't either!

  • me either lol!

  • Thanks, I love gingerbread, and I always wanted to decorate my own and make my own for a little change.

  • I love gingerbread dough *drool*

  • Is it okay to use baking powder, instead of baking soda?

PLEASE respond i need to make gingerbread men for an event a day fro now!

  • Yeah it's okay but you need to add 3 times more then given.

  • she said shorterning after adding granulated sugar.. im not a big fan of ginger =P

  • what did she add after granulated sugar? I can't hear it.

  • short bread

  • sorry i meant shortning

  • @Mallika555 whipped cream

  • Dont be shy, put your party dress-on (: !

  • @luniathe1st Face palm at that comment

  • vinegar?

  • very cute! :D

    i like the music

  • um...cud we also use a hand mixer cuz we dont have that mixer

  • just what I was wondering also I don't have that kind of mixer..

  • I dan't hav one either.I guess you could use a handheld electric mixer, it really doesn't make a diff

  • I can't wait to make them, hope they come out good :P

  • The molasses is for colour only.

DONT USE 1 CUP OF IT

use a couple table spoons MAX

  • there r always different recipes, thats why things taste sweeter or saltier e.t.c

  • do you have a recipe for ginger bread (i think its mainly a Jamaican recipe and i love it (but i only have access to the less natural superstore versions)

  • we made them!!!!! just awful!!! worst cookies ever!!!! they should have mentioned this was decoration only!!!! ruined our christmas!!! we had to go to Vons and buy already made cookies, we feel sick and awful from these cookies we may even die!!! please do not make or you'll be sorry

  • @angelest04

I have tried this recipe twice and they are the best gingerbread I have ever had. I tried it with one kind of molasses and we didn't like them. Then I found a recipe that used "Grandma" brand. What a difference. My 14 year old son and his friends ate 4 each after I made them. We don't ice them though. Amazing cookies.

  • WOOOOOOWW...!!!!!!! 5 Mins

  • Hey, why no Cinnamon?

  • I love it!

  • Hm... My mom and I, we usually never use any shortning or baking soda, as we never have these in the area that i live in.Instead we use butter, and instead of molasis we use pancake syrup (really thick kind). The gingerbread cookie dough turns out extremely different than shown on your video and it actually doubles/triples in size when baked and its soft! I'll try this one though, never hurt to test! Ty

  • but what if you don't have milass

  • As far as i know, only the taste of it will change. But where i live atm, we dont have molasis(h/e u spell it) so we only got thick syrup for it, and the cookies usually turn out nearly 3x their normal size, super soft, and just amazing! :D

  • Does it taste good?

  • this helped me cook.

  • hmmm i hate baking but would sure love me some gingerbread cookies. thanks for sharing!
