Because football has long been proactive and out in front of the issue with the strictest steroids testing in sports. HE ALSO TOOK STEROIDS TOO!! Even if he never took steroids and was a class act guy, its stats are horrible. He has an atrocious 266 batting average, only has 462 total homeruns (even 500 alone isnt enough for the hall of fame), only 1800 hits (not even 2000 hits!), and no gold glove awards. He was never dominate in any season. NO WAY SHOULD HE BE IN THE HALL!

I am from Miami and I have followed Canseco's career and I must say I never doubted him telling the truth. I beleive he was blackballed by baseball and this was his way of getting at them. Unfortunately he had to name the big boys out that we're using roids to show his creditbality. And to this day he is the most credible ball player to play in the roid era. Also thanks to him baseball is coming around and it's a cleaner sport thanks to one man Jose Canseco!

let me ask you this. Anobolic steroids have been around since the 30's thats a fact look it up. Players went to the doctors all the time in the 60's and 70's. They got "mystery" or mirical shots. No one knew what was in these shots, because it was not important how the players got better they just did. So my question is. How do you know Mantle, Maris, and so on wern't on roids? You don't know and neither do I. I don't think its impossiable. Like him or not Canseco is honest.
